install help on the 6.5 alpine!!!!

i have an alpine comp system type-r spr-176a. this question can go out to everyone who has a big magnet on the 6.5 . as u must know the working space for the cl is close to nil. how did u guys overcome this problem without bringing it to a custom shop? what kinda spacers and with what dimensions did you use?

Just make a wood ring out of 3/4" wood....you'll be fine. Make a cardboard template first, then trace it on to the wood, the use a jigsaw to cut it out.

i actually tried that and also other variations of spacers, the sad thing is the magnet is always touching the window guide. also when i put enough space in between i can't put the door panel back on.

You might need to consider new speakers.

no you dont need to consider new speakers if they wont fit in the doors get some kickpanels and install them in there..... (i have heard that the 98 and up accord kicks will fit pretty good....)

I bought a Dremmel tool and cut the steel in the door but then I had decided I didn't want to bother and had StreetEffectz make the spacers and do the cutting.

To me the biggest pain on the car was getting the wires through the boot in the door to inside the car.

Ive installed Focal Utopias, Rainbow Pros, Dynaudios, and I've always had the mids fit with a spacer. You are probably not doing something right. These are all 6.5 btw, and have very deep mounting depths.

Kick panels would be expensive to make.....but it would be your best bet.

does neone have the qlogic kick panels??? it says it is a 6.5, but the fine print says it can only hold a 6.25 at most. but beside that how much would a custom kick panel cost??? i don't want to spend more then 200

hey i would think that a 6 1/2 would fit just fine but you may want to talk to valuetl on the acura-tl forum he has a pair in his tl.... so he probably could tell you better than i could... but to be honest the kickpanels would be the best bet.... no pain in the a$$ trying to run the wire thru the boot in the door no spacer needed no cutting needed.... and they are closer to equal distance from your ears which mean a more balanced sound.... just my opinion
