I want to add a sub...

First, let me say that I'm not into car stereo's enough to do a huge competition system...I'm looking for a little extra bass and the cheapest route to go. So here goes:
The car is a 2001 Acura CL-S non-navi...
I have a Kenwood 8" sub and a 450w amp that came out of my Mazdaspeed Protege. I was wondering how easy it is to add the amp/sub without going into swapping decks and all new wiring. Since our Cl's have a factory amp, is it possible to just reroute those wires to my new amp, rather than the factory Bose one? I'm still looking through the FAQ's...I'm just hoping someone who has done this already can give me some much needed advice...

I would run a power wire off the battery for the amp. Amp info would be helpful. If you have something that can accept a high (or speaker) level input, you might just pick up these:

You can get a signal off the wires going to the rear speakers. I have a JBL amp that would sense the speaker level signal and turn the amp on (meaning a remote wire was not necessary).

Alternatively, you could just get something integrated like an infinity basslink...

I finally had time to get pics of the amp I have. What is the best way to go with this amp, while keeping the stock deck? The LOC's seem to be pretty easy, but I do have the speaker level inputs as well. I don't know much about amps, but installing one is easy. I just need to know which route to go.

Seems it would be easiest, in your case, to tap the rear speakers for speaker level inputs to the amp's compatible inputs. You will need to run a dedicated, fused power line from your battery (Use 8ga or thicker) and a similar gauge ground line to a good bolt in the trunk somewhere. You will also need a remote turn on line, which you can tap into either the HU's remote line, or a cig lighter.

If there is anything CL specific, I do not know it tho. I'm just a TSX guy. Make sure you've checked over the FAQs / DIYs posted at the top of this forum, there's good info in there, although I do not maintain the CL stuff so I'm not familiar with it.

Hmm?
That's just an input for the rca's that would come from the loc

From the setup hes putting in, it looks like the basslink would cost more than the system being put in. LOC would probably be the ideal way to hook this up.

Just get an amp kit off ebay, for your setup, an 8gauge is sufficient, but you may as well run a 4ga, 2, or 0ga back there if you ever plan on upgrading anything else and just get a ga converter to hook up the amp

I got a LOC if ya need used for bout a month then upgraded my whole system
12$ shipped, they run for bout 20$

to hook it up just find the + and - diagram for your speaker wire on your cl wiring diagram and hook it up just like this pic provided earlier by feuss

if you go the 8gauge route, it shouldnt cost you more than about 30$ for setting it up

I tried to PM you back but your inbox is full...I got the LOC yesterday. Thanks for throwing in the tap-ins too. That'll save me some running around. I'll make sure to update this when I get around to wiring it all up. Thanks again!!
