How do you get access to the stock amp in the trunk?
I want to add an external amplifier and a couple of 12" subs and was told that there was an amplifier in the trunk. How do I get access to it and does it use line level inputs or does it have RCA plugs on it?
By the way, this is my first post and I bought the car about a month and a half ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK buddy. I remember trying hard to find the stock amp myself so let me help you out. The stock amp is located in the trunk on the passenger side wall (on the same side as the jack). It is behind the plastic molding. To get the molding off you have to remove the whole bottom piece of the trunk to expose the spare tire. Then remove the little cargo net "hooks" and plastic attachments. Then remove the jack and all the plastic pieces that hold the jack and parts. Also remove the plastic piece where the trunk door closes and locks (right above the license plate). If I remember correctly, you should then be able to carefully pull back the plastic side molding.
The amp will be mounted to the side with 3 screws.
You can then search this forum for the schematics of the entire stereo system. Someone posted scanned pages from the helm manual. They will tell you exactly which wire is what at the connection to the stock amp. You will have your remote wire, speaker wires, power, and front/rear low level signal at the stock amp. Just make sure you run your own power/gnd to your new amp.
Let me know if you need more help. I have the schs if you can't find them.
