HELP! too much bass

i installed my memphis 500watt mono amp and 2 JL 12's in my 03 TL-s two days ago. and there is way too much bass for all the time. it has a bass controller port on the side of it. do any of you know if i bought a bass controller or wutever it is called would this remedy the situation. because it does sound amazing but sometimes its jus too much bass. i.e long trips.

Welcome!

First of all, which JL's do you have? Second, does teh amp have a gain/boost knob? If so, where is the level at? Also, are you using the factory headunit or an aftermarket hu?

check online if the amp has a bassknob port. maybe try messing with the crossover, if the bass is overbearing at certain frequencies as well.

i think it would help, depends on what the setting is now, if the gain is at zero and you are still getting too much bass, then you would be better off changing out to one woofer.

im gonna assume that the gain is set high. i had this system in my infiniti. n it sounded underpowerd and it was off of a eclipse Navi DVD headunit. which i thought was odd that it sounds better off of this. but i did figure out that i put a switch in the remote line so i can shut it wen it pisses me off n just use the stock sub

wait, so you are using both stock sub, and aftermarket subs? from my experience, that sounded a bit odd

Well Im using the stock sub and Im using 1 12" Kicker Comp VR. The amp Im using is Power Acuostik.. Now, I have the bass knob on the amp, and Im using the factory bass control to turn the bass up and down. I heard about the switch, my friend has that in his TL, and its nice to have. Try using the knob, should work.

i think the bass control knob should work. I had one on my memphis st-1000d and all the way down, my sub would bascially be off. In fact, i still have the one on my memphis, and if my friend sell the amp without the gain, i might have an extra one for sale. i'm not sure if it'll work with your memphis, but maybe?

but definitely check the gains on your amp.
and if those are all the way down (which i susupect they aren't).......if you're using a LOC or something like that, sometimes they'll have adjustible voltage, and you can turn that down too

Thats tru, a LOC could be a reason. How did you set it up? Did you use a LOC getting the output from the stock sub? Or did you use the output from the sub directly going into the amp? If LOC, check the voltage on that, a slight turn could turn the bass up pretty good. If not, check the AMP, and turn all the knobs down, and from there work it.

well usually its the other way around when it comes to bass! You should be urging for more, but to answer your question, yes you need to purchase the bass control module. This will enable you to control the level of output from no bass to super bass! Just find a mounting point in your car and run the wire to to the amp and wa la.
