Check my sig....I love the player, has every feature I wanted with great sound quality. It also looks very good with the rest of the interior. You may not be able to find that model anymore because it is older but any higher end Alpine will make you very happy.
I wouldnt recommend going cheep in this point for your system.

I definitely agree!!!! Don't skimp out on a good head unit because it is your command center for the rest of the system.

Great thread. I'm considering a replacement for the stock HU in my non-Navi 99 TL.
Got one question though. Does anyone know whether a double DIN navigation unit like the Kenwood P-NAV7015 will fit in the TL's dash? Eeyone who's posted here has installed a single DIN aftermarket HU. TIA

you can fit it, but you will have to get a custom dash kit made. The one we are all using is the Metra kit and it is only in single DIN.
I like Eclipse decks. I'll probably go with the 3434 since I'll have to change the speakers and wiring etc... If I didn't have to change everything I might have gone with the DVD players which are supposedly really good with Eclipse.

Sony CDX-CA710X CD Receiver/Changer Controller with a Sony XA-300 UniLink Auxiliary Input Adapter stashed in the glove box to connect the iPod.
Four Infinity 6x9 three-ways handle the output.

The CDX-CA710X with flip-down, detachable face provides 52 Watts per channel x 4 channels, 18 FM and 12 AM memory presets, a built-in equalization circuit providing seven bands of frequency level adjustment, CD-R/RW playback and is XM Ready.

six-disc cd changer, four full-range single-ended 2V-capable preamp outputs, flat from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, looks factory, integrated nav. Runs my Jl Audio 300/4 and my speaker system cleanly with no noise and great sound quality.
