Head Unit Question
So I'm sick of the terrible stock head unit so I'm thinking about getting a new one. I've looked at a few and I like the Sony WX-GT77UI the best, but I want to know if it's a good one to have in my car. (Here's a link to it: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665801112)
Front speakers: Kenwood KFC-1662S (Peak 180W, RMS 35W)
Rear speakers: Kenwood KFC-6983PS (Peak 450W, RMS 110W)
Not sure if necessary but I have a 1996 TL 2.5L

Seconded on all the above.
Good to think about running component speakers up front as well, maybe install those tweeters in the a-pillar for better staging.
Kenwood makes good speakers but there are much better options available to you. Phoenix Gold RSd are nice for the money, as are Pioneer ts-d models. Polk is good too, on a budget.

yup. i only use kenwood. I used it in both my cars and it works out fine for a cheap price. You can find decent ones for 90-120 at bestbuy or buy off amazon or sonicx.

i had a sony Sony XAV-70BT, in my camaro, and it was a wicked deck. Ive got a jvc 7inch now, and a pioneer 7 inch flipout, and hands down, the sony was the best. Easiest to use, produced good sound, and looked good. im just a novice, but i did have infinty kappa speakers, with a 12.1 sub and what not, but hey thats just my opinion. worst thing i ever did was get the jvc, hardest to tune.

fourthmeal,
Although I don't appreciate the tone of your message... I am grateful for the links. But I am still unsure about if I will need to buy adapters since it is a new HU and an older car (1996).

What tone, man? I find it appalling that new members do not bother to use the Search button. And I know you didn't, because the answer you were after was on the very first thread when I searched.
I may have a join date of Jul 2010 but I lurked and searched this site for months before I even purchased my vehicle. There is an incredibly dense, informative base of knowledge already on the site, and if I may say so, the search function works beautifully and without any issue, which is great because not all sites do.
I'm not trying to be a dick here, but let's be honest, spoon feeding is not the right way to learn, right? I hope not, because we're doomed if that's how it goes these days.
At any rate, what adapter are you speaking of? Usually just a dash kit and wiring harness is all you need. metraonline.com gives details for each vehicle. A 96 TL is probably different than a 99-03 to be fair.

Searching definitely helps, I can understand the frustration, ham all you need is a dash kit

Check out sonic electronics dot com. They are the cheapest on the web and very reputable. I got most of my system there it rocks. Alpine type R are great speakers for the price. There are better, but not for the $$ IMO. Pioneer and Alpine HU's are great choices too. Sony gear is low end junk.
