So as stated, I'm most likely gettin a 10" JL W6v2. On the JL site, it recommends 400-600w for OPTIMUM performance. I want to run this sucker at 2ohms (my friend said so?). I also want to spend no more than $270 on an amp, so I've been searching on ebay and heres what I've come up with. Tell me what you guys think would be the best bet for this sub.

Those were about all that seemed to appeal to me. I'm leaning towards the Kicker and the Alpine amp. However, I have no idea? If you guys could give me any input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are amp wiring kits really important? Like the brand and all? Or can I get any 4 gauge amp wiring kit, as long as it can handle the RMS watts the amp is pushing? Because there are like 4 gauge kits on ebay that handle like 600-800w for like $15. Or you can get the Fosgate or Phoenix Gold kits for like $40+. Just curious. Thanks!!

see, I would LOVE to get the 500/1 JL amp, but brand new they're $389+. And used, I don't know if it's a good idea to get used stereo equipment? Wanna fill me in on that?

 

Go with the Kicker. You can get them cheap on ebay.

 

IMO if you buy the kicker L7's, just get the kicker amp 600.1, that will bump! and cheaper....IMO JL audio is fierce shit, but kicker is up there as well.

 

The 500/1 will love that sub, they wre built for each other. I run 2 10w7v2's, pushed by a 1000/1...its absolutely gorgeous. The 500/1 would be worth your cash.

 

ok, so what about the other amps? do you think the kicker amp will run the w6v2 really well? or would the alpine be a better choice?

dont skimp on the wiring, the brand of wire wont affect much, but make sure you get a good fuse holder and some good quality RCA's... it makes no sense when people pay hundreds for their speakers and amps and then want to cheap out on the speaker wire/signal cables.

 

that audiobahn amp will draw less power (digital circutry) and also produce some very clean sound. They also look pimp.

first off, dont (even if ur life depended on it!) run jl with audiobahn!!!!

everyone has said it, the jl 500/1 is what u need.
the kicker amps run well too, but they're monsters.... unless ur really plannin on pumpin that sub on a daily basis, it might be a bit too much (but if its cheaper go with it)

xtant (if its cheaper) will be a good choice.

and fosgate.... well u dont need the 1000bd... and everyone knows although RF isnt jl or eclipse, u cant go wrong.

BUT I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THE AUDIOBAHN, ALL THEIR SHIT IS SHIT!

also, i work in a car audioshop, I SEE TOO MANY PEOPLE COME IN ON A WEEKLY BASIS HAVING BOUGHT AN AMP ON THE INTERNET AND IT TURNS OUT TO BE SHIT. I WOULD BE VERY VERY SKEPTICAL MAN.... HIFISOUNDCONNECTION (ebay store) sells good stuff cheap though, check them out. (im in toronto so i dont work for them)

i got a used 500.1 for 225 shipped. sounds beautiful with my 10w7

 

memphis and ample amps are pretty nice.

 

i work with car audio every day that is what i do... the best bet for that sub is the jl500/1 by far... i have done that combo atleast 20 times without fault.. in fact that is what i plan on running in my own along with some MB Quart premiums all the way around.. hope this helps...
