Eclipse Speakers

I installed a set (4) of Eclipse Point speakers in my '03 TL-S. Sounds a heck of a lot better than the Bose.. total install time was abut 1/2 hour. The fronts are like components, but the tweeter is in the woofer.. crossover attatched.

The rears are just 6 1/2" Duals...

Has anyone else used Eclipse, AND has anyone heard the differences between the Eclipse and JLAudio?

Your help is appreciated, as I may upgrade yet again to the JLAudio's...

Thanks for the input!

Andy

If amplifying the speakers, I'd go with the JL components as i think they are smoother sounding than the eclipse.

I have a question about your speaker install. Are you still using the stock unit? If so, did you have to do anything special to make the speakers compatible with the Bose system? I use to have a 91' Maxima with a Bose system and I couldn't do anything with the system because it was compatible with nothin. I also wanted to add some amps. Any insight you could give me would be mostly appreciated!

nothing... the problem with Nissan is the amps are attatched to the speakers... with the newer acuras, the Bose system has the AMP elsewhere, I believe, because they certainly were not on the speakers..

there are 6 1/2" all the way around... the front are components, but with the tweeter in the woofer... looks like a coaxial speaker, but is driven sperately!

Hello wassy,

Thanks for the info about the Eclipse speakers. I have a couple questions if you get a second.

1. Were the fronts model SP8962 and the rears SE8262?
2. How much cutting did you have to do?

I am also curious about the sound quality difference, which is always subjective. The factory system images (if you can call it imaging) very poorly, making everything sound like it is coming from the armrest. With the Eclipse speakers installed, do you notice if the sound is more towards the windshield?

Thanks,
John

Wassy I got some Diamond HEX series 600s with the silk dome tweet in my fronts, and the Eclipse Point Source in the rear, I love the Diamonds, and the eclipse seems to give a good ambient fill. I have a JL 300/4 pushing em.
