DVD Head Unit For TSX

I've seen some posts a while back with pics shown those who have put DVD headunits in their TSXs. Got a few questions:

1. What is the best h/u to put in the storage area under the a/c controls (I have a 04 non navi)? I've seen mostly the Alpine iv310, but I was wondering about others like Pioneer, Eclipse, Kenwood, etc. It has to be a touch screen though.

2. I want a clean look. Is the best way to do that to get the faceplate from the oem mp3 player? Or is there other options?

3. Is there a way to maintain some use of the steering wheel controls (volume and/or track selection)? If so, what would I need?

4. For those of you who have 6mt,.. will the screen get in the way?

5. Is there any other options, like replacing/removing the head unit?

6. What would the various install options costs?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Look for K-E-N-N-Y's TSX. I think he put one in that compartment that is also a Navigation unit. Looks pretty sweet and from what I understand it works very well!

Haha. Thanks CJams.

Anyway, I just made a CarDomain site. You can check out my setup there. Audio is mostly on Page2.

If anyone here is CarDomain member, feel free to sign my guestbook!

Yah, that's the setup I seen from a while back... NICE!!!

I was thinking about doing a similar setup. How is the placement though.... is it too low? My bro has an RSX-S (Alpine IV310) and his is up higher (completely replaced his H/U)? Also, did you use the OEM mp3 face plate? Looks like you just modified the bin cover (I think I saw the tab you push on in one of the pics)

I was looking at the newest Eclipse model out with navi. Think it's one of the few that works in Hawaii too. But is over $2500 here, dunno if it's worth it... but it is nice.

Hey, are you still able to use some or all of the steering wheel controls? It's not really a deal breaker, but having the volume would be nice.

Thanks for all your help...
