Door Speaker Upgrade
Anyone - please feel free to comment or help with my dilemma below:
I started with the standard 5-speaker stock system - I added Infiniti 1" dome tweeters in the doors which give me much better highs, but they added this annoying hiss to the system (anyway to minimize or eliminate?)
I already have 2 kenwood amps (65x2 and 60x2). I'm not really a big fan of the sub and will probably just disconnect it, but I was thinking of replacing all 4 door speakers with JL Audio 6.5 upfront and back (or are they 6x9???) and bypass the Bose HU eq so I don't have to replace it. Would this sound okay temporarily?
I'd probably upgrade the HU several months down the line...
Also - if I keep the Bose HU, do I need to buy a specific bose wire harness for each amp?
Please help... Thanks

dsclaus,
I am interested in doing the same. I don't fully understand it all, but I too am not happy with the sound system (have an MDX and it sounds way better). I want to keep the HU to keep the navi voice and sterring wheel controls. The way I understand it, you can't just tap into the stock wires and install different speakers or add amps without hissing. You have to by pass all wires as there are some 'amps' in line that will cause noise if not bypassed. For example, to use my aftermarket amps, I will have to install and filet (not the right name, but can't remember) off the radio (HU) and run power to the amp, then run all new speaker wire into the doors and the (eventually) new speakers. I wil replace the sub also, but if you remove the stock sub, I think you'll need to put some kind of shroud around the back of the third brake lamp. Otherwise when you hit the brakes at night, you'll be in the red light district.
