Do I need to buy new head unit?

I have 04 txs without navigation.
Every function is working except CD player.
and my car is our of warranty.
I don't want to spend over $1000 for new unit.
Does anyone have an idea?

Another question.
If I buy 04 entire head unit with navigation (used),
do you think it will fit and work properly?

I don't know much about my car. damm...

That's a tough one. Your CD player may be repairable, but it will not be cheap. A whole new head unit may cost you just shy of $1k as well.

Another option would be to look for a new non-navi headunit from a junkyard. For the cost of just an aftermarket CD player you might get a secondhand OEM one.

Finally, yes, you can do a full navigation swap. Several members of this site have successfully converted non-navi to Navi in the TSX. Search around or ask in the TSX section to see who did it and ask them for pointers in where to go. 1 or 2 of them may even have their old non-navi head unit for sale. There is also eBay.

Unfortunatly, thats about all the help I think I can be. Good luck.

Question, when you say the CD player is not working are you saying that it won’t let you load disks or it won’t play a loaded disk?

If it ejects and loads properly but won’t play the disk (no track or time info displayed) then it might just need a good lens cleaning.

If it won’t load/eject then it might have two disks stuck in the same transport or FOD (foreign object damage).

Both of these are very fixable.

No power is either the best or worst possible outcome for it. Are you sure you've checked all the fuses? This could still be an easy fix. Has anyone at your dealer looked at it yet?

Keep in mind when reading this that I have never actual had an 04 TSX non nav HU in my hands so this info is generic in nature.

There is a good chance that the CD player is a separate unit that is attached to the bottom (or top in some cases) of the radio to form an integrated unit. The CD player is connected externally to the radio and it is possible that you have a loose connection. I would pull the HU out and check all the plugs and interconnects (pull um and reseat um). I would also inspect the CD unit and look inside for FOD.

Do this with the power disconnected! The laser can damage you eyes!
