If you don't wanna do DIY, that 2nd one doesn't look too bad. What model Kicker do you have?

the 1st link is the price for the box and sub and you dont want to spend that much money since you already have the sub. Also which sub do you have? L5 or L7? diff sub requires diff dimension. The 2nd link isn't quite made for the L5 or L7 but it is built more close to specification for the L7. If you do have the L7, go for the 2nd link.

here is the link to Kicker's official site where they tell you what the dimension of a box for the L5 and L7 should be:

Are you sure you have an L7? I'm pretty sure that is an L5. The L7's were silver.

The first one. First why are going from sealed to ported? DO not get the second one first it looks really small for a ported box. What type of music do u like and the power.

now I am confused. Per a previous post, my sub box is too small. Most of the music I listen to just 70's & 80's stuff but I like to crank it up a bit. The sub is a good filler but I just thought if it would make a better difference, that I would spend the 50-60 bucks for a better box. To be honest, I will most like keep the box I have as it has ample thump.

I do have Infinity Kappas for front and back. Will try to change the back speakers out and see if it makes a difference. I find the back speakers very weak.

im confused myself! Whenever you get the chance, unscrew the sub from the box and take a look at the back of your sub. see if it says L5 or L7 (you dont even have to unhook any wires, just unscrew the sub but be careful not to pull the sub out too far or else you might unhook some wires. Once you know the type of sub, THEN let us know so we can tell you what size box to get. It looks like you have a L5 though but im not sure.

(there is also silver L5s too)

THat subwoofer is a L7. ITs the first gen square. What kind of power are you giving it. Look there is a huge differ from a sealed to ported box in output. and your box is not to small. Its sealed its suppose to be small. I jsut need to know what kind of power u are feedin that thing. IF u are gonna get a ported box make sure its designed right.

heres my first kicker install its a L5 in a sealed box. My box is probally the same size. I am assuming your box is 1.0cu ft correct.

here my current setup with a ported box

When solobarics first came out there where only L7's from 2000 to 2001
In 2002 the L7 had a titanium cone and the L5s came out.
In 2004 the L7 became all chrome.
in 2005 the L5 became all chrome.

If you have any question regarding JL and Kicker let me know.

my amp is a Phoenix Gold Titanium 500.2

I just got the system to supplement my stock stereo system. On the Acura, it was a better upgrade. On my Camry, the back speakers come in weak.

So, the question is still, will it really make that big of a diff with a better box and which one to get. No DIY suggestions please.
