Would there be any possible way to use the stock cd changer with and aftermarket head unit.

kinda, by feeding the cd player output that goes to the stock amp in to the new radio's AUX in. But it seems a bit silly to feed a full radio into another full radio...

I gotta tell ya, if you upgrade your speakers you may not feel the need for anything more. I put 6 Alpines in my car, and I am blown away with how much better the sound is.

the main reason i was putting in a new headunit was so i can have composite cable and run subs. i like having the six disc changer and if i get a new head unit i would rather not have to buy a nother changer if the one in the car will work with a new headunit.
with the new speakers you put in did you put in a new amp and did you replace the rear speakers

Can't wait to drive
Iceman is right, replacing the speakers in the car makes a great difference. The magnet in the stock door speaker is dime-sized compared to the Alpines. As a reference, I am able to keep my volume around 17, with no harshness (anything greater than that would be VERY loud..this saw about how efficient my speakers are)
I think gettting an amp alone would not do anything, since the stock speakers are rated 20W RMS (any amp would be putting too much power into those cheapo speakers)

After. Basicly, I replaced the rear desk speakers with the 12w6. I used the Line Converter built into my AudioControl EQX to convert the signal to RCA level.
If I get to the point where I want to replace the rest of the speakers, I will do the install just like Gpump did.
