Best sub and box for TSX

Alright.
I've been looking around and there is no luck for me finding a good thread about a perfect sub-woofer in the trunk, and I was wondering mainly what is a good fitting box in the trunk of the TSX. Right now I have two 12s in a pretty big box and it was a challenge just putting that thing in there, but I got it for free, so I was considering selling them for a better set-up. What I want is something that fits nice, maybe hugs the back seat wall of the trunk or something, any pictures of you guy's systems or tips? Thanks!

I have a 15" sub with box custom made to fit the tsx trunk (since the navi unit only gives us a 14" clearance on the right side). holla @ me

That's not what I am looking for. That would sound horrible, right up next to the trunk and what not. I just want a box that can be nice and tight with the back trunk, and sound good too.

You're mistaken. This enclosure produces the most accuate and tight bass response compared to anything else. Anyone who owns this type of subwoofer setup will call you crazy.

Yes, a sealed enclosure produces bass more accurately, but the location might not work. I think he is more worried about the location the sub has to be. It doesnt look like it would sound good at that location to me either, but i cant say it wont be.

Seeing that you are acustomed to 2 12's and want to save some space, i would suggest a good 10" ported to get similar output or a 12" ported. Will you be building the enclosure yourself?

Some brands to look at are JL and Image Dynamics. Do you have anymore info on your system i.e wire size, amp..?

You're saying that the location might not work? Sorry to interupt you guys. Please carry on with your uneducated theories and such.

I give up. I'm gonna go hang out with Reach and mercman.

Different subs sound different in different locations. Are you telling me this is not true? I see you're a vendor. Probably just trying to sell something.

I'm gonna have to agree with tmcao55 on this one to an extent.. I frequent caraudio.com/realmofexcursion.com/diymobileaudio.com daily, and that is what I have been reading, too.

Location; maybe not so much, since all it is, is moving sound pressure and waves.
However, positioning (facing) of subwoofer, and port direction can make a world of difference.
[i.e. - Sub back, port front; sub back, port back..etc.. etc..]

I have had sub back port back, and when I turned it around to have it face the other way, my bass was noticably much louder.

However, if I'm reading this wrong, is tmcao saying that you CANT put a sub there? The only reason I could think that would be true is if you can not get enough air space.. but if you're only running a 10 or 12, depending on specs, the most you'll need is probably ~1cu ft. That corner has more than enough room for 1 cu ft.

Yeah, and personally i dont want to spend 800 bucks for two custom fiberglass enclosures, thanks. I could make a box for about an eighth of that! Probably more too. Anyways, is there like a specialized box for a TSX? Ill take a picture of my box tonight to show you guys.

Box size/tuning is per sub spec, not the car.

Though the car will have an affect on how it will sound. There's no way around it.
Hatchbacks/Trucks will always just be cheaters, being able to get loud with just 1 8", while it may take a 12" (assuming both in boxes to spec and equivalent power ratio) to achieve the same sound pressure in the cabin

When building a box, just take in account that (if applicable) we have a navi unit on the right half of the trunk. Clearance to the navi unit is 14.5". Just a FYI.

I've never seen a specialized mainstream box. Just build one if you are capable. Get an ID10v3 and put it in a 1.37cuft box(gross volume) and put in a 14 " pvc port. I think you'll be happy. I'm running that setup and it sounds good with 250 watts rms going to it.

There is no one perfect box/sub/setup. Its all subjective. I've spent hundreds of dollars on amps and subs until i found this setup which works good for me. Good luck.

This is not to say this is all the subs i've had, the others arn't work mentioning.

Though I'd suggest an IDMax over the ID (but ~3x the price)

I've had a IDQ15v2 from Image Dynamics, very SQ oriented, but a it wasn't loud enough for me.
Used it for a month or two, then picked up a 12idmaxv3. VERY nice, very precise and was good with all types of music I listened to.
After that I picked up a 15" Treo SSI and sold the idmax, since I still had my 15" box laying around (Same box specs as the 15IDQ) Thing got LOUD, but not as precise.

I just sold it last week, and picked up two SSA Icon 10's Dual 1ohm. Beasty ass 10's, each one is heavier than the 15" treo, and rated power handling higher than the treo. They are SQL subs, I hope that this setup will satisfy me!
I'll be giving them ~1700w @ 1ohm rms
