Best Place to Run RCA Cables

Question: !!!

What do you think is the best place on the car to run the RCA Cables from the headunit to the trunk.

1. Should I run them along the side ?

2. I can run them under the carpet of the center console right under the seats to the trunk ?

3. Give me what you think is best.

Thanks,
Mongo

Well Mongo, there are a few things you should consider before you decide where to run the RCAs. The first is where your power is being run. You always want to run your power cables on another side than your RCAs. In my car I have run my 0 gauge power cable on the driver side from the grommet on the firewall, under the panels and then the back seat all the way into the trunk. As far as my RCA's and other cables, they have been run right down the center under the center console and under the carpet and under the rear center console into the trunk.

Hope that helped.

I ran my RCAs along the passenger side of the car under all of the trim and then ran my power wire along the drivers side.

It doesn't matter where you choose to wire the RCA's....just DON'T run them the same way as your power wire is run...other than that it doesn't matter...

Not true.... the longer the run of an unbalanced cable, the better the chance of interference.

I didn't mean you could literally run it anywhere and it would be fine....I meant that if he ran it down the middle or down the passenger side with the power running down the drivers side then he would be fine...

How did I know you were going to ask this?

In this forum, it's a positive phrase, meaning "I concur/agree, exactly what s/he said."

How you described it is pretty much exactly how I ran my wires, too.

I ran the RCA cables down the center console along the back seat up to the riser on the left side through the trunk. Ron ran the remote wire for the amps since i forgot to when he was doing my setup.

So I am going to run the power on the left door sill through to the trunk. Should have everything for the headunit and A/C controls done today. Now I have to get my amps installed. Ended up going with Phoenix Gold from Ron's recommendation.

I'll get some pics of the custom faceplate to ya.

yeah keep them away from ur power wires.... u'll be aight. as far as a longer cable u do have more of a chance of noise w/longer cables but if u get some decent rca's then u be aight. spend a little more and get better cable. maybe some monster 201XLN's.

I bought the 201XLN for the Sub, and bought the 401XLN for the 4 Channel. Has time correction so they say.

Power lines and interior speaker wires were run by Ron L.

House or car power actually gives off a signal. If you run the rcas next to it, it picks up that signal and plays it through your speakers. It's usually an engine wine that changes with rpm. so it's safer to keep them apart.

Thanks "Black Bullet". I think my girlfriends SC400 has this problem...i think she got into a car accident...and from them on, everytime she turns on the radio it gives a hum/wine noise that is related to the acceleration of the car. If she accelerates fast, u will hear the hum louder. Do you think the people at the body shop did something wrong with the wiring? Do you have an solutions for this problem. THanks

TLS fan.... is there aftermarket stereo epuipment in there or is it the factory lexus stereo???

engine noise can also be the ground so check the ground wires if u have amp and stuff in there. if its the lexus stuff then they'd probably have to check it out.
