What have folks done to get a DVD system for the backseat only? I have a 3YO and she digs having her portable DVD so I'm looking to see if I can add in a DVD system for cheap. What have people done? DVD headrests off of ebay? Flip down monitor?

She is going to slide from her center seat position to the passenger door side when the newborn arrives shortly so I was leaning towards the headrests.

Again...looking for bang for the buck and it is for a 3 YO so I don't need a 13 inch monitor

There is an OEM flipdown, 7" I believe, but its like $1500.

IMO, for the 'back seat child' application, some headrest monitors would be perfect. You can get very cheap screens, like $150 or so, that have to be mounted in the headrest by an audio shop (or you if you're crafty), or for $300 or so you can get some larger (thicker) ones that are designed to strap to the front seat or the head rest, use a cig lighter power, and have an integrated dvd player. That might make the most sense for you.

 

The OEM would work, but not for that price!
