avic n1 n2 d1 opinions....
i really liked the d1 unit for almost factory look. i know the fold out screens are more trick but i like the oem look better. but i can get the d1 or the n2 for nearly the same price. is the n2 worth getting for mor features compared to the d1? like playing dvds and navigating and playing music. having 2 cd players in one unit sounds better to me. just looking to what people have noticed that have these units.
sucks doesn't it. it doesn't bother me to hook up a seperate dvd player. all the sites say something different. such as the car stats with gauges is that all the pioneer units. so damn confusing. crutchfield hasn't helped on this one.
First of all, both of these units prevent you from watching video while in motion, so I'm not sure you should let that make/break your decision. People are working on a way to bypass this, but it's not official yet.
With the N2, you only have 1 slot for Music/DVD/Navi Disc. You can navigate and play music, but when you want to do that you have to set your route first, and then put the music disc in. If you end up trying to change your route or want to look for other things around you, you will have to take out the music disc and put the navi disc back in. This can be a pain in the ass depending on how often you use the Navi. The N2 will play DVD discs though, while the D1 will not. Unless you find a way to bypass the video lockout though, you will only be able to use this while parked.
The D1 is almost identical to the N2. Many people refer to the D1 as the double din version of the N2. It has the performance gauge features and all of that other stuff. The only real differences are that is has two slots. One to play CD/mp3 and one for the Navi disc only. If you don't mind not being able to play DVD or getting a seperate DVD player, then I think this is actually better. I have the Pioneer N1 and it can be a hassle sometimes switching out the discs.
