AVIC-N2 & AVIC-D1 Front Side Video BYPASSED!

I've figured out a way to bypass the AVIC-N2 where the Gyro is tied into the unit so that you cannot select Navigation Menu's or WATCH VIDEO While driving!

PM me if you want to learn how.

For the AVIC-D1 it will let you use navigation menu while driving and if you decided to add a video source input.

let me guess, you put a toggle on the gyro itself and therefore voided any and all warranty on the unit?

no....I PM'd him and it has something to do with a wire and a loop.....i'm sure he'll explain it more but i dont think it'll work b/c it's a software issue, and he doesnt appear to be bypassing anything

I'm askin him now if I can post his PM.....it actaully may make sense....

PM's

PM 1: On the AVic N2, itself, NOT the brain, pull it out on the bottom there is a small silver decal, peal that decal away and there should be two soldier points should say F197 Loop a wire between those two points AND DONE!
everything bypassed, THE REAL WAY TO DO IT.

PM 2: I was forwarded this information today by my pioneer rep. And then I modified my Avic-n2 just now and works fabulously. Your gyro will still work it just doesn't block you. It was designed the same as japan an all other continents because it is only illegal in North America for Front Video Viewing while driving so the same design for the board was made, just that other parts of the world allow front seat video. I am modding my 3rd N2 today=) just found out today so very fresh.
THIS IS THE REAL WAY TO DO IT, i looked at other sites online and they're like cut the GPS antenna wire and toggle switch this and cut VSS wire and ebrake wire and so on, you don't need to do all that=)

yes you can enter addresses!
I've already done it to two avic-n2's today since i found this information out.

works great.
this will void the warranty because of the fact its still modifying the unit but you can undo it very easily for warrantying purpose and if you do it clean enough no one will even notice this mod.

works exactly like the avic-n1 did
but the only thing is it puts this warning message in the beginning that you have to press okay on when viewing video. Thats all. just have to hit okay

only problem i have right now is modding an AVIC-N1 that was upgraded to the AVIC-N2 by software. There is no blank spot with a sticket over it and even when i pulled it apart it doesn't have the same traces at the same location.

well, streeteffectz agrees this works so i'm not a believer....thanks guys for any work you put into getting this problem fixed....and for those who really hate the idea that this is bypassed, honestly it's easier to put in an address on that stupid thing then to find a radio station, and now the passengers can use the gps too....again thanks guys

Let me know if you end up getting this figured out. This is the exact situation I'm in.

Thanks!

I think i might end up buying a new board or getting a Pioneer Depot WARRANTY that board with a new AVIC-N2 mainboard. Seems like thats the only hardware update they've made from the AVIC-N1 to the AVIC-N2.

Maybe i'll be able to find the jumping points somewhere else on the board.

TYZING, for you to not believe me and doubt me only until StreetEffectz concurs with me that this was a proven modifcation that would work, I don't wanna posts new findings here anymore.

I post information here to help others and only to get doubted, so whats the point of even doing it.

I think you should be more worried about my driving then me watching tv while driving.

I do the bypass because i know how fustrating it is to have to pull over to enter in navi addresses, its for my passenger to enter it in for me while i am driving.

And even when I do have dvd video's playing i don't bother watching it anywayz, i am too busy driving like a psycho anywayz.

Nismo, do you have any pictures of the underside of the unit to show where the points are? I'm getting ready to buy it next week and i'm just leary about doing this to my brand new unit, so if i drop some nice small and clean solder on the wire to hold it and something messes up i can reheat the solder and have it come off so no one knew i done it anyways?

Are there any pictures of the two points that need to be soldered/uncovered on the D1 so that a newb doesnt solder the wrong points and thus fook up his unit? Thanks guys!

I wish the D1 had animations or something other then a simple track listing when listening to music, for the price I guess I expect it to put me into an epileptic fit with its light show.. do other models have better animations and such? Like the d-301 with maybe a navigation brain installed? I havnt bought anything yet im just making decisions right now, I do like the fact that I can add addys while driving and let my passangers watch video, however. Thanks for the info guys!

Ryan

D1 doesn't have soldering points. D1 needs an extra wire with a pin on the end to shove it into the D1's wiring harness, notice there will be one missing wire coming from the harness, shove it in there and ground that wire out.

you know what i did with my N1? I just sold it. Haha, rather not bother trying, i mean i could realistically take it apart and look for the point, i'm sure there is, its probably different, i would probably have to resist it somehow, but I mean its not worth the time. I just sold it, bought myself an avic-d1 for dirt cheap about $500 canadian taxes in and threw that in for now til the avic-z1 gets on production
