Anyone with subs that removed rear 6X9s

I'm thinking about removing the rear 6X9s completely now that i have a subwoofer in the trunk. I'd like to hear from anyone who has done the same thing and what they thought. The audio place that put in my sub said that i was better off leaving them there because they still add to the full effect.

If you still have 6x9s in the rear deck, than what did they use to run signal to the subwoofer ?

i believe they just ran a line off of the wires going to the rear 6X9s. you don't have to remove them. i'm just thinking about removing them so i will have two ports for my subs. and then later i am planning on replacing the door speakers with Alpines Type S speaker.

I guess you can take them out, but generally the more speakers you have, the better it will sound. You know what you could do - and what I was considering - is swapping out the 6x9's for a 5.25 component to mount on the rear deck. Of course, I would have to get rid of the stock crossover some how so that both highs and lows go to the rear deck. That will be a job.

I would remove them if I were you. In fact, that is what I plan on doing.

Yes it will sound clearer without them because essentially you are playing a speaker through another speaker. Even if you left them in there without any signal going to them it would distort the sound.

You don't need to remove them. Just unplug them in the trunk and leave them.

You'd be playing a speaker through a speaker. That can't be good for SQ.

JiggaMan, just pop the cover off with a flat screwdriver and remove the four mounting bolts holding the speaker in. Unclip the connector and remove. Voila.

well i already removed the rear 6X9s and i honestly can't say that i notice that they are gone. if anything the sound in the car sounds clearer. i think that the bass in my trunk pouring in through the holes where the speakers were makes up for their being two less speakers in the cabin. i did break one of the snaps on one of the speaker covers though, but it doesn't seem to really matter. when i get around to it i'll order that clip from my Acura dealer. that's what happens when you rush these things.
