Hi guys,
I've been gone for a while, and needing to start a new project and could use some help. I'm wanting to change to a better, bigger amp, but cannot put it where the stock amp is. I am looking to move the cable from the head unit going to the amp, but it is just long enough to reach the stock amp. Does anyone know where the cable runs, I am assuming I could get to it if I take out the back seat, but didn't notice it there when I had the seat out before. Thanks in advance!

2nd Gear
I'm wanting to know how to get the back seats out so I can get to the amp. I want to take out the stock amp and plug in an aftermarket to its power supply so I don't have to feed it through the fire wall. Sound Warehouse told me that the 2001 Acura TL doesn't have any grommets to feed a power cable through but there is one above the gas pedal but I'm unable to feed a coat hanger through it.
10th Gear
The front lower pops up and there is a 10mm bolt on the back about where the center seam and seat meet on drivers side. 3 more 10mm bolts to remove the back seat. One on the outer end of both sides and one more on the opposite side of the center seam. Pull the seat straight up to unhook the top, then slide out
Question,
There are many experienced owners on here that have done soo many things with these cars. I see many, many people have read this thread, but no-one has actually had any advice. Is it that no-one has ever changed out the stock amp, or while doing another project, have seen where the cable for the amp actually runs? I am assuming the cable is running under the rear seat but don't know if it can be pulled back through or will it get caught on something or might be bolted down some where. Again, thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

The stock amp? you mean the sub amp? I actually remove it to save weight but its cables run from the passenger side of the car beneath the B-Pillar.. Remove the seats and spot the amp, just follow the cables.

I actually mean the stock amp. The head unit is not powered and all speakers have to go through the amp. The amp is in the trunk, on the passenger side, behind the panel. You can get to it by removing the cover for the jack and reach in to get to it.Originally Posted by Skirmich

That thing in the trunk is for the Sub? I believe it was a passive EQ.
The stock speakers amp is inside the HU itself as per the wiring diagrams.
HU > EQ > HU > Speakers.
I dunno if the CL used a different setup but at least for our TL the thing in the trunk is for the Sub only..

Yes, the CL is different. I do not have a sub in my car, and all the speakers run through this amp.Originally Posted by Skirmich
