anyone know how to remove the stock stereo of an accord '90?
just thought i'd ask. i haven't tried removing it yet...haven't had the chance to do it. i bought the car from my brother in law...picked it up last night. i'll be putting an alpine aftermarket cd player....i also have all the brackets i need. anyway, thought i'd ask to make the job a little easier. thanks!
you have to take the center console around the shifter out, theres 4 screws (2 on each side) of the console. If its a manual tranny you have to pull down the shift boot and unscrew the knob first. The console will pull up and out of the way, the cup holder and that little tray will come with it. On the underside of the dash close to the firewall there are 2 screws holding a rear mounting plate in place, loosen those screws and the deck should slide out of the dash. If you need more detail or pics let me know. SumkidwithaCL@aol.com
first attempt...could not get the stereo out. i removed the console around the shifter. i removed both screws around the rear of the ashtray holder under the pocket under the stereo. it moves a little bit but still won't come out. i looked at the back of the stereo and i think i saw 2 screws holding the stereo to a metal bracket but how the hell do i get those 2 screws out. i can't get my hands or my tools in there.

I've taken these out plenty of times, and that is how its done... it could just be hung up on something... keep trying I guess...
