Amp Cooling Problems ???

Installed a 75x4 Alpine ontop of the Spare and under the Insulated Cover in the Trunk about a month ago. Last few days I've noticed that the CDs would start to cut out when I turned the AMP up. CCity told me to bring it up. Dude opens the back then drives the car inside. It stops ! Only think we could think of was cooling.

Remedy, two Cooling Fans ( 4 Inch ) one to draw out one to pull in Circulating air. Anyone tried this ? I don't want to go cutting if it aint going to work, but the theory's Sound, and if just raising the Cover off the AMP worked, this seeemingly should work as well.

Hit me up people. What other alternatives do I have ???

Thanks

True, most amps will shut off if they are overheating, but even under the floor, I wouldn't think it would overheat unless you are playing it loud for quite a while.

A good test would be to play it until the problem happens and then put your hand on the amp and see how hot it is.

You could also test this by taking the floor out for a day or so and see if it stops screwing up, before you start cutting.

Ok

What else "might" cause the cutting out. When we took the Cover off, and put a Hand to it, it was slightly warm but by no means hot.

When I turned the Volume up it cut out more, a protective built in mechanism of the amp I'm sure to protect speakers or the Amp itself no doubt.

Could the AMP be Defective ? I got a Blaupunkt PA 4100 just for the COOLING effects reason, but CCity had Numerous issues with that AMP saying it was Cutting out or had Static. After hours and hours of working with it, they determined it was defective.

Of course they had one to sell me if I wanted. I chose to buy one instead of waiting on another PA 4100. I just sent the Blaupunkt back.

How was it connected to your system? LOC? RCA splicing?

you can buy a 12v fan and put next to your amp or you can get the amp that have included with the fan and you be ok. i have my PG Ti600.2 in my car now, i run the amp down to 2 ohm bridged mono. everyday i playing music for 5 hours long, the amp run cool as hell.

I'm afraid Slooo97CL is right. His amp was not even hot, only warm. I believe the problem is else where, not heat built-up.

Yea, but it's weird that the Moment he opend up the Cover, drove it inside to check it out, that the AMP then didn't miss a lick. Played like a charm. Only thing it could have been was trapped heat or lack of circulating air you'd think, because the AMP was Warm, NOT hot.

I don't know: i'm not the expert here, only an observer.

What do you say: Install Fans or look for something else ??

if a bad ground why should you get a bigger amp for? i think you just find another good place around inside your trunk to put your ground wire.
