Alarm system questions

My alarm system has never had the chirp and my remote doesnt work. I dont know if its the system or the remote thats bad. I am trying to figure that out. Now the alarm has went off. Do you have to use the remote to get the alarm to make the chirp? Is there anyway to tell if its the remote or something else? Thanks.

no but i went to change it and they tested it and told me its good. When you press the buttons the lights on the remote come on but you gotta press them really hard.

well, dont change the battery at the dealership, get the code off the battery and you can just buy one anywhere, the remote will pry apart easily with a sharp knife. This probably has nothing to do with the chirp, but it'll help your range. I cant think of a reason why pushing it really hard would be necessary unless the remote is busted up in some way. You sure you have to push hard or just push for a long time?

Well since the remote didnt work when i got the car I decided to reprogram it. Well it actually works. The only problem i have now is the driver side door makes a noise. It sounds like the lock is free spining so basically it is a manual lock. Stinks i cant use the remote to lock the dorrs because of the messed up lock. At least i can pop my trunk and i actually heard the chirp. lol. Anyways I wasnt needing to press the remote hard just for a lil while. Thanks you to all.
