8" JL W7 or 8" kicker L7

I have a 8" jl w3 installed where my trunk door used, too be but I blew that sub in approx a month..looking to upgrade a little...would you stay with the w3, or get the w7 or L7...Haven't heard the w7 but what I hear is that the 10" really hits so I think I would be satisfied with a 8"..I'm not a sound guy but my system doesn't sound right w/o atleast a small sub...any recommendations would help also any other ideas also....I listen to hip hop and r&b so I have to have a little something

the 8w7 is so so, I had one and then went to the 10w7. HUGE difference, the 8 is good for a SUV or something like that, but for a trunk, its not gonna do it

Well my 8 w7 will be firing directly into the cabin, not to mention I was pretty happy with the sound from my w3 before it went in a month.....I just pushed it too hard..anyone ever hear the 8 L7....I heard they hit decent for a 8..and I could get that much cheaper rather than making a new box and paying 2-400 for the w7

How big is the box? got any pics. I am pretty sure you can put a square hole in it. Like 3 years ago on this board a member with a CL put a 8l7 inbewtten the seat firing into the cabin.

i would go with the jl 8" w7. altough i heard it in a custom ported box and it slamed. i never heard the L7 becuase we don't carry kicker. you can't go wrong with jl, unless you have a crappy box. i say you should go ported since you listen to hip hop and r&b.

I don't want huge bass, I just don't want all the rattles...I'm looking more for clarity....and a little punch nothing big....with ported setups u pretty much need a huge box? correct me if I'm wrong...I will try my 8w3 for a couple months, if I don't like it get the 8L7...and last but not least the 8W7 since it cost the most....I spent alot of money already, just need to get the sub perfect... Is it true that the W7 wont sound good if its firing in the cabin?

IN the installs I have done no. Even JL says no Unless Your cabin is totally sealed off from the trunk. Trust me on this and do the L7 or another 8w3v2.
