im dont like jl anymore

well both of my jl w6v1's took a dump on me over the weekend. one of them blew (voicecoil went out) and the other one the cone seperated itself from the rubber. now im thinking about getting some type r's (2006 model). thats the last time i get jl shit.

how long have you had those w6v1's? we are at generation 2 now, they are now V2's. I visited the JL Audio Factory in florida where they are american made, not just assembled but MADE, and they are awsome. Maybe those ones were the ealier generations (made in china)

But those must be old.
I don't think Type R's are going to solve your issue. If you hate the asia made subs, then you are not upgrading in any way.

I had 2 15" JL w6 I bought in 1997 powered by a PPI A1200.2 1200rms amp pushing them and I listened to rap all the time with it cranked. I sold the subs in 2005 when I got my TSX. Never blew one or had a problem, sometimes its owner error more than manufacturer errors. Distortion and bad box design can cause a sub to blow.

i have had 3 jl subs: 8w1, 10w6, and a 10w3v2. i have overpowered each of them and play them to the edge of audible distortion. the only one that ever did anything nasty was the 8w1 after being tortured for 3 years daily with triple the recommended power. then the voice coil came up throught he dust cap. i would happily recommend jl subs. jps

I am not a believer that JL is god or anything... but chuck, I'm pretty certain that was your responsibility and I'm also pretty certain you'll toast the alpines.

But this was an interesting discussion...

Never had a problem with JL but I'm not a fan of the Type-R's. As for diamond Audio I've had friends give me good feedback on em! Nice sound too I sell JL Audio and we've never had any complaints on them.

i think im going to be debating between some diamond audio's or some eclipse aluminum series subs. i've heard eclipse's in action and they are pretty nice.
