2011 acura tsx footwell lights
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I've recently purchased a 2011 Acura TSX w/ Tech package. I have noticed that the footwell lights only turn on when doors are open. I was under the impression they keep it on during night time driving.
Please advise

I can read.
LIKE I SAID on my 12 they DO NOT STAY ON.
my bud has an 11 sedan and HIS DO NOT STAY ON.
so IMO there is nothing wrong with your TSX OP.
And to be clear we are talking about FOOTWELL LIGHTS/

^most likely he hasn't discovered them yet, the 09-10 have a black plastic that blocks the light I think 11-up Acura put a clear plastic over the footwell lights. I didn't know mine had em til I did the footwell light mod
2009-2010 Acura TSX footwell lights stay on when low beams are on. A black lens is used to cut the amount of light making it almost invisible.
2011-2013 Acura TSX footwell lights ONLY WORK when you open the door. They use a clear lens to omit light when the doors are open. Dealer said Acura thought that the light was too strong to stay on while driving at night bc the light was apparently too strong.
I'm going to remove the lens on my 2009 to see how strong it rlly is and put up pictures of the results

Interesting ... I'll go back and check and maybe remove the diffuser on my 09 TSX footwell light then. I have noticed footwell light in mine, but they are indeed dim.
Just to clarify, TSX only has footwell light in the front, not in the back right?

There is a pic posted somewhere here of the diffuser taken off.
I have them off on my '10. It's much better, you can see the blue color and it's not overpowering at night.
And yeah, it's only in the front.
oh btw, you can't just take off the difuser since it's also the clip that holds the light in place, you have to drill a hole in it.

I drilled a hole in my diffuser, the light output is blue... I think the reason they put the black diffuser is because it causes the footwell light to be whitish which matches the DASH lights, now it is just a blue led on the floor...
which is different since it is the only blue light source, but I dont mind it....
I wonder if there is away to change the small led to a white led instead.. hmmm

Mine got both front rear & center console. Center & rear stays on, front goes out when doors are closed.
I have a 10 TSX and my footwell lights stay on as long as the lights are on. I just removed the black plastic cover and taped (I know getto) the light to the hole so it wont move. The black plastic cover holds the light in place. I didn't even know I had footwell light untill a few months after having the car because of how dim it is with the cover. looks better now but I think I might change it out for white ones to match the rest of the lights.
