Better search button placement.

Well I think i speak for all the more senior members here (me not really being one of them lol ), when i say we're kinda tried of seeing repeat posts everyday.

That being said, I think we should place the search button in an easier to see and more profound location, so when someone says they can't find the search button, its harder for them to get away with posting repeat threads. Also, maybe we can have anyone under 5posts/15days only be able to read stickys and learn to use the search to find things.

Idk, im just really tired of seeing the same damn thread everyday and i know the mods are tired of closing them and having to baby everyone.

So just a thought, let me know what you think

IMO, it seems to me that most people are just lazy and use the "I can't find the search button" as an excuse when they get called out.

With all due respect, if you can't find the Search button on the top row you've got problems. I think the current setup with everything up top is great.

But I agree with you...reposts can be annoying, but I think that's just part of the human element of a forum

Oh, and I just discovered this new section of the site and think it's a great idea

From what I can tell, non-moderator opinions are welcome, correct? Just don't want to post when/where I'm not supposed to.

I think the search button is placed just fine.

its the seach function that needs to be worked on. I can find topics because I know what to look for. But Newbies find it hard to find the correct combination of words to get it working properly.

Seach button is in a great location.
Maybe a diffent Color than the other links next to it so it stands out and grabs your attension.
It's right in the middle of the screen, and I don't really know how you could get better placement.

I like the idea of not being able to make a thread without being a member for X amount of days so that they'll have to learn to search if they want an answer to their question.

i think this would be the best option. i think this forum would be much more informative if that happened.

The only downside (if you can call it that) is that there might be some serious thread revivals.

I am absolutely not in favour of disallowing new members from creating a new thread. If you can think of more user friendly ideas to inspire more searching, and less blind posting, I'm all for it

haha well that settles that! Hm, I do think the color of the text to something that doesnt blend in as well would work.

Newbies are not illiterate. they can read just fine.
its not the issue of colors or placement.

It's the fact that people are lazy and dont take the time to explore the site.
When I joined I lurked for several months, before I posted.
I learned all about my car and took care of the issues that I was having without ever asking a single question.
