Front brake caliper bracket stripped - need one for a 2002 Acura TL-S
I was changing brakes and rotors for a friend of mine with a 2002 Acura TL-S. It was getting dark and I decided I need to rush so I set my impact wrench to full power and stripped both the bolts (those short and fat M12 bolts) that go into the caliper brackets and sandwiches it to the hub assembly. The caliper bracket holds the actual caliper piston assembly and bolts to the hub. Does anyone have a caliper bracket for sale (or the entire caliper assembly) for the front driver's side?
Are the TL and TL-s calipers and/or caliper brackets the same?
Thanks,
Gary

You could drill and re-tap, but although i'm sure itd be safe, I know you wouldnt want to do that.
Here's the entire thing for you:
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no
Part 7, $72.81. I'm assuming you're talking about part 17 when you mention the M12 bolts.
Rockauto has a few ACDELCO reman'ed brackets, front left.

I also looked at rockauto and I only see the rear caliper brackets. where do you see front ones? (link)
Thanks you guys are great.
Some guy on craigs list wants to sell me a used pair for $150. I guess he doesn't know you can buy rebuilt ones with the bracket for $60 plus core charge.

10.67 is a good price, but I'm not sure it's for the front.

No man, read what i wrote. click the link then in the menu tree, click "CALIPER", not "caliper bracket". Then scroll down and you will find EXACTLY what i posted. It is the 30'th item under the "CALIPER" list.

Hi Gary :
I did exactly the same thing.
It turns out the stripped out metric hole is exactly the right size to tap a 1/2" imperial fine thread. I took my bracket to a machine shop and had it drilled and tapped for $20. Some day, I'll change out the bracket and put it back to standard, but in the meantime this solution worked great.
I found that you needed to buy the whole caliper (~$150) and they may not give you the core refund ($75) due to the damaged casting.

Just have yours tapped out (or even cheaper buy the tap yourself and retap it and get the correct English Grade 8 bolt.

I know this is an old thread but I just had this issue yesterday so I thought I'd post my fix. You don't need to replace the actual caliper just the bracket that bolts to the steering knuckle. Don't think Acura will sell you just the bracket but you can get it at the Pick-n-Pull for $15.99. The whole caliper at the PnP is $19.99 + $3 core charge but who wants to mess with disconnecting brake lines if you don't have to?

I stripped my caliper bracket due to a torque wrench being out of spec, and replaced it at O'Reilly. Can't remember the price but it was pretty cheap. Can't beat the speed of just driving to the store and picking it up either .
