Wind noise driver door area?
Wind noise driver door area?
Hi, I have a '23 Type-S with about 3000 miles on it. I believe there has always been what sounds like wind noise coming form the driver's door area. The sound is sort of a whistling sound like you get when you blow air over the top of a glass coke bottle (if you know what I mean). This sound starts to occur around 30-35mph and continues up from there. The volume stays fairly constant even as the speed increases. I know its not the side mirrors, I folded them in while driving with zero change in sound. I had my son use painters tape and taped the whole gap around the driver's door then went for a drive, no change. Leaning forward in the driver's seat towards the a-pillar the sound seems a bit quieter, so it seems like is more centered around the b-pillar area. Does not seem to be from sunroof or windshield. Not related to tires either as the sound doesn't change as road surface changes.
So I'm at a loss what could be causing it. It must be air getting into or passing over some gap, maybe under the car or from the engine bay/wheel well? I've inspected the rubber door gaskets and they all seem to be in good shape with no rips or cracking. It's weird because over all this one of the quietest cars I've ever owned except for this particular issue.
Anyone else have this issue? Had it fixed by dealer? I hate taking noise issues to dealers unless I'm certain about what is causing it because they love to just say "we don't hear it".

I have same issue. Also hear the sound on the passenger side. Drivers side, the noise to me, is coming from the lower back of the front window and on the passenger side, it sounds like it is coming from the lower front part of the window area.
It’s possible ours has it on the passenger side too, I’ve never ridden over there yet. lol. I’ll have to check at some point.
This is some interesting info, but probably unrelated.
On AWD 4G TL's, when the bearings on the propeller shaft go bad, there will be audible whistling noise which will change in pitch according to the vehicle speed.
