I just had my puddle lights replaced. Drivers side went after 9 months, passenger side went a month later and the driver side again on the morning of the replacement of the passenger side....
but the annoying part was the replacement of the mirror glass that they broke during the installation of the lights.The image in the new mirror glass was distorted and doubled,just like wearing a glasses with the wrong prescription,making me dizzy and disoriented...went back ,they ordered a new glass ,replaced it and it was fine but still not 100% but acceptable. This morning had the drivers side mirror glass broken again and replaced again with the new one and now the image is blurred and stretched....
Its driving me crazy...going back to the dealer tomorrow morning....

Anybody else had the same problem or is it just my luck.....???

i actually noticed the exact same thing this morning. i had the puddle lights replaced this morning and the driver side mirror has some bad distortion. When they replaced it, the mirror position program was way off as well. i am going to have to make an appointment to get it looked at to get it corrected. it is pretty damn bad.

 

Went to a dealer this morning and sure enough they are installing a mirror glass tomorrow morning.... it is #5 for me. (including the ones they broke during puddle light install)...still not guaranted its going to be a good one...

 

just got back from a dealer... and its finally fixed!!!

 

You are not alone. I had my driver side puddle light replaced, the mirror was broken in the process and then replaced. The replacement has some distortion, I don’t know who is manufacturing the replacement mirror but it is inferior for sure.

 

Took car to acura this morning. The service advisor took a minute to see the distortion. He called up the lead tech and luckily the tech has seen it before. They are ordering me a new glass and will let me know when it is in for replacement.

 

Passenger side puddle light out again....I will wait for the driver side to go out and do them both at the same time....its exhausting..

 

Just had the driver's side puddle light changed, was starting to leave the dealership and had the same problem with the glass being distorted and blurry I thought that something happened to my eyes, went back to service and they called in one of the mechanics who confirmed that there was an issue they then brough out the mechanic who changed the puddle light and he pushed the mirror in and it was 100% better but when driving home I still see the issue but not as bad, now it looks a little magnified. Will be going back as they had to order the passenger puddle light, they did not have it even though I made the appointment 2 weeks ago.

 

Just a follow up, passenger puddle light installed, no mirror issue, they did order a new one for the driver side.

 

New driver side mirror installed, worse than the original one, three techs looked at it, cannot figure out what the cause is, service manager not in today, they will be talking to her on Monday and may get the regional manage involved.

 

New mirror installed today, same issue, they are ordering the whole mirror assembly.

 

I have a 3rd puddle light out on the passenger side... its exhausting....

 

Once I get this fixed, I do not think I will go back again for another puddle light.

 

Two months later the mirror assembly came in and replaced by the dealership, problem finally resolved.

 

I had my puddle lights replaced (2nd time) and this time the driver glass is massively magnified and distorted so bad it hurts my eyes, and the passenger is so convex it’s useless. They were perfect up to now. 28k miles and pissed! This is so bad it’s undrivable and not remotely safe.

 

. Yeah…too much hassle and risk! I’m really down with Acura as they are really going downhill in quality, and style. Dropping the Type S and not making an RDX Type S…MDX seems whacked lately…Alexus I drove was better.

 

when this happens, it is because they did not fully install the mirror. They most likely missed some of the clips while putting the mirror back in. It is a quick fix, but obviously make the dealer do it.

 

. It’s worse than that. The glass itself seems cheap and has a blue harsh tinge. Blurry, distorted and warped.

 

Hilarious... I had my driver's side puddle lamp replaced and have the same issues. My glass is perfectly flat, so I don't think it's an issue with the clips.

 

it may appear flat, but guaranteed that they didnt put the mirror in correctly.

 

Exactly why I'm going to have them look at it when I go back in a few weeks. This has been an exercise in comedy. Went in for a driver's side puddle lamp replacement, and the tech broke the glass reinstalling it (second time this has happened). They ordered the new parts, and a tech dropped the damn thing and scratched the bezel. Glass is wavy. So now I'm waiting on the new bezel, and I'll be having them check the glass. If the clips are good, they'll be ordering new glass. Just a comedy of errors. My service manager is terrific, though, and I've known her forever.

 

mine had bad glass. They clearly said it was either defective or not OEM. Replaced with OEM and. All is well. There should be an etched logo showing its OEM. Lower corner hard to see except maybe with polarized glasses.
