Lost Type-S Remote Keyless Entry Fob

Does anyone have any experience with replacing the Type-S Remote Key-less Entry Fob?
  1. Is It best to work with the car selling dealer for a replacement?
  2. Is it OK to buy one from an online Acura dealer?
  3. Presumably the new fob needs programming. Who does it?
  4. Any guess on cost?
Thanks for the help.

I received a small coded tag with my OEM key Fobs. Was told that is needed to add new/additional key Fobs to the car.

We really liked our local Acura dealer (and Honda dealer for that matter ... same owner). We bought the cars new from them, and used them for maintenance and service thru the life of the cars.

If I had just bought a new TLX or TLX-S from them, I would just drop by and let them help us work through it. If you are new to Acura, you might be used to a poor service/support experience from your local-dealer. That was the opposite of our experience with Acura.
Well, just a thought. Hope it works-out.

Found the FOB

Thanks Guys.
  1. I've purchased five Acuras over the years. Of course, the dealership has been sold twice in that period. Hunt Valley Acura is now owned by Auto Nation. I've had excellent service in the past.
  2. More importantly, after searching the home and both cars and failing to located the fob, I FOUND IT IN A PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE BASKET. Yea!

Buy it from the dealer., They will program it for a fee. Have all your keys with you.

I see from your member name that you probably own/owned a BMW E92. I traded my pristine 2011 E92 [with 28,000 miles] to buy my Type-S.

The E92 is a gorgeous coupe. I traded it because I needed the new safety electronics gear.
