2021 TLX - Water in rear battery compartment
In July of 2021 a van rammed into me at a stop sign and completely smashed by rear end. Eventually it got repaired and all was well.
Before that, in May 2021 I got my interior reupholstered with black suede and installed fiber optic lights in the ceiling(starlight headliner). I have two fiber optic power units installed in the trunk totaling 1100 fibers. All of this is connected to and stored with the battery in the trunk. The two units are controlled by phone via bluetooth.
Over the past week I've been trying to change the colors but only one of the units seem to have a bluetooth signal. Both lights were so I assumed power wasnt the issue. A couple of days go by and suddenly the Bluetooth signal pops back up - Great.
A day later(today) same issue again. This time I decide to take a look at the wiring in the trunk and I find a puddle of water just below the batter 🤬. I grabbed some water from inside and pour it all around the trunk area and observed water dripping into the trunk from the area surrounding the trunk latch. This is where the black cover stretches across the bottom lip of the trunk. I had a bag of children clothes in my trunk for donation but used them to dry that are. I can see rust forming down there as well as the fiber optic units. My guess is the water must have gotten to that unit, causing this issue. Through that I was able to discover an even bigger issue.
I'm trying to get an understanding of what the body shop got wrong with the repairs. Is there suppose to be a seal under the black cover? Is there supposed to be a drain hole under the battery to prevent this issue? Is this thing even safe to drive?
