Trunk is soaked from rainstorm help!
Trunk is soaked from rainstorm help!
Well I got in an accident a few months ago where the trunk lid wasnt replaced but the bumper was as well as the rear quarter panels. Its been raining hard the past week or so and my whole trunk is soaked in water and it seaped all the way through to where the spare tire is like in a puddle of water. I checked the rubber sealing along the trunk and it looks fine, where is the water coming in from?
How do I make sure the soaked trunk doesnt cause mildew and stuff now?

do a search
some people say it's the right drain channel
on my car, it was rear ended, and was not welded correctly on the right side
the guys just used some silicone to seal the seams and it went (mostly) away
just dry your car out and try using silicone to seal up the seams

Well its definitely coming from the upper left hand bottom of the trunk. It is flooded with water where the spare is. Corrosion has already began this is awful. I'm bringing it to the place that repaired it 4 months ago, they have to fix it for free for their mistake. I just hope my car doesnt have to be there for a week to get fixed.
The drivers side bottom left corner of the trunk is where it is super damp and soaked, like bottom left as if you had a trunk mat it would be on the trunk map not the top parts of the trunk.
It could be coming from anywhere. You may have torn body seems under the car or inside a panel & it's draining the water to that spot. If you have that much water the good news is it should be easy for a body shop to find it.
i don't know but could it be the little air vent down on that side missing the flap... If you take off the carpeting there should be a hole where there is a flap to the outside... Try that

Bringing it into the place that repaired my car months ago first thing in the morning, and going to make sure they find the problem and fix it for free. Unfortunately I'm being told that if there is that much water then they may have to take off the quarter panels and do all this other work which will take a good amount of time. not looking forward to it, but I wont leave until they agree to fix it since it was obviously a result of a bad repair job on their part from the previous accident months ago.

Looked but didn't see where you were talking about Dougler. thanks for the advice though. Brought it into the shop, the car was there all day, worse shop ever called 3 times to try and talk to someone to see when it would be ready and what the problem ended up being etc, and found out no info as no one each time was available and they never called me back.
It might not be applicable on the CL, but I know that this exists for the 04+TL and same thing was in my old 95 Accord, so I figured it was a standard thing. I tried to look up a exploded view diagram for you, but I couldn't figure out what category it would be under. Hopefully your body shop starts treating you right.

My 88 Legend had a similar tube too, I think it's pretty standard on most Honda/Acura's.
Called today, he said they were resealing all the seams, doing a hose, test and repainting. I picked it up and i dont even know if they did anything besides clean up the water. Corrosion is there, looks like they didnt paint anything, and when i picked it up they just handed me the key and didnt even go over it with me. What a piece of shit place, I highly recommend no one to ever go to Gainesville collision center.
BTW since I can't stand this shop I'm going to do what I need to do on my own. Anyone know how to get rid of minor corrosion spots? I heard pouring coke on it over night may work. Also any cheap corrosion/rust prevention sprays?

Is tremclad a spray and where can I get it? Just looking to spray all the metal back there in the trunk to prevent rust and corrision from happening. so pissed about this whole thing though
Used some naval jelly to try and remove the rust/corrosion spots...didnt do a damn thing. Going back to the body shop tomorrow and telling them they never finished the job because they forgot to remove the rust and repaint. BTW is this a normal procedure for body shops? I dont want them trying to BS me that they cant remove the rust, because they were the cause of the problem!
Brought it back today and told them I needed them to remove any rust, i mean it wasnt much to begin with, and then repaint the whole section including taking the carpet sides off and paintign the metal you can see. So now its black and shiny and great. what a hassle but at least it is done.
Well what do you know..it started raining here again and the leak is back. I don't know where its coming from, but it gets very soaked on the carpet towards the back seat and the guy said that last time they thought they sealed off a rear window leak and he needs the glass guys to come out to take the rear window out. Unfortunately I doubt this is the problem and now because I'm not 25 im carless with no estimated time of when im getting my car back. this has turned into hell
I keep getting water coming through my drivers side door panel. Right next to the little speaker on the top of the door. You know what I'm talking about?? Also everytime it rains/snows I notice condensation build up in my passenger side headlight and my drivers side tail light!!! And everytime I bring it to Acura they say they're gonna fix it and never do!!!!
In order to fix this, they have to strip the interior & trunk out to sheet metal & then run a high pressure hose around the car while someone sits inside.
And if that yields nothing then it's time to remove the bumper & put the car on a lift & pressure test from the bottom of the car.

The second pic is just the paint job they did lol.
The first pic if you look closely you can see where its wet. That corner carpet piece is where the water first seems to accumulate, but all the other carpeting around it is completely dry. This time no water accumulated in the wheel well or anywhere else yet, only at that one spot. Any ideas?
When it comes to being handy thats the total opposite of me. Anyways, why do that instead of bringing it back to the collision shop where they will fix it for free. Only problem is they didnt fix it last time and i cant get a loaner because im not 25. So thats the downside. The upside is I only have 1 class on campus twice a week.
Okay came back from the collision shop a few days ago, yesterday was a very hard thunderstorm and once again that corner of the carpet from the pic above is very wet with nothing else in the trunk being wet. Last time they said they had the glass guy out for the rear window and sealed the rear window for any water leaks. Still same problem. Is it possible its coming in from the wheel well kicking up water to that spot or something? whats the deal?
I had a similar experience on a 300M. It was a torn body seem under the car. They did everything to try & find it. Again just like you many trips with many fixes. Finally a body shop I took it to myself found & fixed it. The dealer reimbursed me for the repair.
Any other thoughts on where the water could be coming from would be greatly appreciated. Its def not the weatherstripping, the rear window leak was the main fix they tried by siliconing , the rear lights wouldnt just produce water in that one spot, could it be a sunroof leak? my back window also gets foggy sometiems when my front window isnt, so some condensation is somewhere.
The water is sitting just at that one spot of the carpet on the left hand corner that i zoomed in on, on the pictures above. Could it be coming from driving in the rain and the wheels kicking up water and one of the seams near the wheel well being cracked and moving into the trunk?
Believe it or not the shop still swears that after they tested it today its a rear window leak. He said they are ordering new molding and will take the rear glass out and do it right. We will see.
So I thought this issue was over as months ago they took off the glass and resealed everything for what they called a rear back window leak. For a while I didnt notice any water, but just checked today since it rains every afternoon in south florida during the summer, and of course where the spare tire well is there is water all over again. This problem seems unfixable as its been to the same body shop 4 times, and now I'm no longer in Gainesville to bring it back. Also, I'm looking to keep my CL for another 3 years so its important this gets fixed. I am at a loss of ideas, I have no clue what to do. I dont want my trunk rusting out.
When I got into an accident they had to give me a new bumper and they had to realign the rear driver side tailight. The alignment of the bumper on the driver side is not perfectly flush, and there also appears to be a seal problem on the drivers side rear light. I shot water at the gap between the bumper and the quarter panel as well as at the side of the headlight and water shot through both easily into the trunk. So basically I need the body shop to realign the bumper, and realign the headlight and seal it up. Would anyone know a fair price a bodyshop should charge for this?
