Are you asking about the top wire in the rear? In some cars that is a secondary antenna for radios. They call it a diversity antenna system, and the radio selects the best signal from its sources. Not sure if Acura does that, but I've had other cars with it.

its actually the top 1/4 of the windshield that never defrosted. i see other TLX with this issue and wanted to know if its by design, if not my next trip to the dealer i will complain about it.

It's in the 90's so I can't test, but I don't recall it not defrosting from past winters.

Yes, I think is by design as the mesh wires doesn't go up to the edge.
Last winter I always had a band of un-defrost area on the top of back windshield . I would say the size was about 15-20% .
I think it was same think on my old TL.

i am having this same problem with my 05 RL, but i only have about 20% of the bottom of it working. not a big deal right now but with winter coming i would like to find a way to fix the problem.

i notice that your rear window is tinted and mine is also, anyone else having the problem have theirs tinted? wonder if this may cause some of the problems.

I think that the lines higher up might be antennae, not defrost elements. They are a bit wider in the higher area, and there is no connection between the two.
