Crisp shifting when cold??

So I've noticed the past few mornings whilst headed to work (outside temps in the low 50's) that the first couple DCT shifts are a bit, crisp, shall we say.

However after driving for 15 minutes I hit the big city and they're very smooth in the stop -n- go traffic at that point. Wondering if this is just the nature of the beast?

Possibly a result of the difference in the ATF temp. I notice this in both my 09 RDX, and my 98 Chevy. I also notice *less* difference (cold-to-hot) after I started using a synthetic ATF, and also less difference in the summer, than in the winter.

Yes! Finally someone noticed besides me. I took mine in and they found the transmission was leaking at the "inspection plate". They replaced entire transmission due to the leak and it's gotten better but still not silky. Lovely German transmission.

Was this the 9-speed, V-6 or the 8-speed, I4 that had the transmission leak at the transmission plate?

I too notice a few "clunky" shifts when my 4 CYL is cold. In my 2004 TL I never had them. Once warm the TLX shifts are smooth.

I love the car but will mention the shifts in my first service.

Yes, it happens to me too in my new 2.4 TLX. When cold, the shift from N to D causes a substantial jerk with sometimes loud noise (although this problem seems to be getting better over time), and the gear shifts are a bit rough. Everything becomes smooth after the car is warmed up. The customer service guy at my dealership said that this may be normal. Hmm...

I noticed this on my Accord Touring as well. Hasn't really been cold enough yet in the Bay Area to see if it's the same with the 9 speed, though. Honda transmissions are distinctly different than many vehicles I've driven though.

On my V6, the first couple of gear shifts seem to be a bit more "thumpy" than the others, which seem almost imperceptible. I'm not sure if it's gotten worse with colder weather, but it's definitely noticeable when I go to work in the morning. I'll keep an eye on it.

We do a bad job around here of responding to an I4, 8DCT post with V6, 9AT issues and vice versa. If Acura looks at these threads, like they suggested they do in the last One Pack video, we're making it harder for them to understand the issues. Try to keep I4 and V6 issues in separate threads.

First morning with the TLX DCT yesterday; yes, first shifts are a little abrupt, initial engagement of D position would probably benefit from waiting an extra second before applying throttle, but smooth within less than a mile leaving the neighborhood.

As far as other "issues" I've read over the 2 weeks waiting for the car--none. LKA works fine with a slight pressure on the wheel, I do have the software update based on my VIN, great paint, no noises, no trim issues, have not had occasion to test cross-traffic beep. Maybe the One Pack feedback works. Nice car, but it is the wife's for the most part. :-(
