Buzzing or whirring sound from dash when in reverse
New 2015 TLX v6 AWD with 500 miles. Had for a week now and just noticed something that at least I have not noticed before.
When I get in the car, start it up, and put in reverse, I hear what sounds like a buzzing or whirring from the drivers side of the dash. It sounds almost like a small high speed fan running. Whe I put the car in D, the noise stops.
Anyone know WTF it is?

My guess is that your power mirror is set on driver's mirror and when engaging reverse, what you're hearing is the tilting down of the driver's side mirror. When you put car back in drive the mirror returns to its original position. Move the mirror control to the center and the noise should be gone if my suspicions are correct. Move the control to the passenger side mirror and the same noise should come from the opposite side of the dash.
Is there some type of ventilation that comes on for the dash electronics?
If so, it could be some kind of ground fault with the backup camera. But let's rule out the more likely stuff first.
Does the sound last for the entire time you're engaged in reverse? Like if you stay in reverse for 20 seconds, it would be making the sound the whole time?
