3 of the biggest TLX problems IMO

In no particular order, as they are all bad:

1) Early model 2015 9 sp transmission issues: shift from 2 -3

2) Horrendously slow infotainment/Navi interface

3) Brake Hold engagement at slow/coasting speed

The trans issue are being addressed, but what about the rest of these? These are terrible issues from a supposedly upscale brand!!!

1) Ok, as you said being addressed, mine is a 2015 with jan 2015 build date and I have zero complaints

2) Yeah, its a tad slow especially at first, but at least it works, so ill count that as a first world problem

3) what are you talking about? brake hold at slow speeds? Its meant to hold you when you are stopped not moving. Mine works 100% perfect, holds when i hit 0mph until I hit the gas, period

My brake hold engages sometimes when at a slow coast or rolling stop. It jerks the car suddenly, and annoying to say the least.

Weird. Mine works exactly as it should, works flawless at 0mph and not above. You should take your service manager on as test drive and show them. That should not engage above 1mph

It's one of the intermittent things and is difficult to replicate consistently.

Yeah I drove a 2016 MDX as a loaner, and it kind of bothered me too. But, I makes more sense for an SUV, not a sports sedan. That was one of the reasons I went with the FWD version - it's not terrible on gas even without this feature.

I don't have this issue. May be a maintenance item on your car.

I agree fully on the 9ZF. Ruins this car IMHO. But I still need to get the latest firmware update then I'll reassess.

The transmission thing is extremely well-known. Mine is an 11/14 build, has had bunches of updates and relearns, and it still bumps on the 2-3.

I haven't found the nav system to be particularly slow, compared to other cars and even stand-alone systems like Garmin. I've had nav systems for years in many cars, and they aren't going to work like your desktop PC or even your smartphone.

The brake hold issue you have is a mechanical flaw and you need to get it repaired. Mine works perfectly.

Stupid question, but are you referring to the "BRAKE" light that flashes on your dash? If so, that's not the brake hold. If it really is brake hold engaging randomly while the car is moving, you've got issues with the car that should be taken care of.

I have the brake hold issue as well. I brought it in to 2 different dealers more than once and they were unable to replicate the problem. Funny thing is during the test drive I had with a field rep from Honda for the transmission issue, the brake hold problem happened. The field rep thought it was auto stop. I explained to him and he just completed disregarded it.

Also I test drove a 2016 TLX and it just so happens that the brake hold issue happened as well and the sales rep was clueless what happened.

I haven't had any issues with my transmission or brake hold. I wish the infotainment was faster, but I was coming out of a 2007 vehicle so it's not a big deal to me.

I have the latest firmware update for my TCM and PCM. I have a 2016 to start with, but it wasn't bad before. Now it's great. The only thing that is sometimes annoying is that the dog clutch downshifts take a little bit of pre-planning (ie: 9th to 4th kickdowns). After this latest update though, that time is reduced, and automatically controlled Sport+ is less insane and actually good to drive in sometimes. Paddle shift response is faster now too.

The car just feels snappier and more eager to accelerate after the update. I spend most of my time in Sport mode if that makes any difference on that front (but I did before the update as well).

My 3 biggest issues would be as follows:

1. Infotainment needs a rework.

2. A performance option is needed (Type-S or something), with that option having a DCT.

3. DOOR CARDS. The door cards need a nicer design and a cross-handle to hold on to.

My three tops, and one that pisses me off.

Why the hell doesn't that front seat go further in the back.... (and I am only 5'11")

Upshifts of transmission kinda lagged by programming. They should be instant even in manual mode - they are not.

Not a fan of the dual screen....it adds to the confusion. Un-necessary.

....
Annual differential oil change on a 2016 car (every 24000km on severe service)????? I hate that idea. I wonder if there is a DIY specific for the TLX.

I must be the only one who doesn't hate the infotainment system. I don't notice it being particularly slow, nor does the design bother me.

The two screens are a little weird at times, such as when inputting an address and you have the mouse/wheel on the top screen and a keyboard on the lower touch screen. Having said that, I like being able to have the large analog clock or nav on the top screen, while messing with the audio on the lower screen.

I like the dual screen set up. There is a learning curve though. Keyboard over wheel any day.

My biggest complaint with the infotainment system by far is the Lousy, Horrible, Terrible, practically non-existent.... voice recognition. My 1G TSX was better. Sometimes I wonder if the microphone is even connected.

I love the dual screens, but yes there is a little learning curve to figure out the things you need to do. There are features of it that I do not use (eg. some variety of shortcuts), and have not learned. Same goes for voice commands which I almost never use.

The drivers seat goes back far enough for me and I am 5' 11" with long legs.
