19 TLX A-Spec SH-AWD - auto start-stop engine stalls?

Hey fam.

been a while. Anyways right to the problem. As in title, 2019 tlx, 17k miles, L.A, no cold weather. Not driven as much since now I work from home but groceries trips here and there. For the past 2 days I've had an issues where I stop at a light, auto start-stop engages, but when I lift off the brake, the car tries to start, then stalls. Actually today had it happen 3 times, with the 3rd (me testing) being the worst. Car then remains in ignition 1, with instruments lighting, with screen instructions to press brake when start car. Tried shutting off the car completely, then starting it, but just a slight tick, but all dashlights and screens turning on. Nothing weird like dim/flickering lights that could point to a bad battery. Probably hit the start button 3-4 times before it started up again.

only happening with auto start-stop. Car cranks up just fine any other time. As a matter of fact right after starting up during the stall ordeal, I turned it off, then turned it back on no issues, quick start. Had battery checked and it came out good. No CEL but ran ODBII just in case, nothing there.

Have appointment with dealer in a couple days. Just wondering if anyone had similar issues.

Even if the battery test shows OK, it's probably the battery. See if the dealer's more advanced battery testing machine will pick this up. Otherwise, Honda warranty will not cover it. It's less hassle to just purchase an AGM battery from Costco and call it a day. YMMV.

I have 2015 SHAWD. My auto start started acting up, when it would refire at night one of my headlights would flicker like it was drawing too much power. It also stalled on me once or twice.

Dealer put a brand new battery in, solved the issues immediately. get a new battery. simple fix

Old gas + Weak battery causes this issue on this model. Direct Injection engines are run "precisely" and anything out of range will cause lots of issues. If the fuel is stale (from sitting for a few weeks) then the car won't start as expected with the "quick" start done by the ECU vs an actual start with the start/stop button. Using the Start/stop button reprimes the fuel system and gets way more crank revolutions before starting (this allows stale fuel to move/flow out) until you get the right mixture for a start. Add into it a battery that's about 2-3 years old and you'll have this issue on any honda/acura with stop start. Get the acura battery replaced under warranty and use some fuel stabilizer to help prevent stale fuel.
