Voice recognition for BT phone degraded

I have had over a dozen Acura cars since my 2004 TL and for years was impressed with Acura voice recognition, but it has not progressed at all since then. I don’t know what is up with my Pixel 3a XL, everything was fine and now when I try to voice call anyone it can't find the right person on the phone and brings up someone where phonetically the name is not even close to what it brings up. Oddly voice navigation seems to be good, but not sure why the phone would have any impact and the car just imports the contact list. I tried rebooting the phone with no luck.

Have you tried unpairing and then pairing up your Pixel again?

When I have my phone connected to my TLX, I avoid using Acura's voice recognition and just use Google's. We all know Google's is far superior to Acuras.

I have not tried that yet. I want my next car to have wireless Android Auto so I don’t have to keep screwing with plugging phone in. It would be odd if unpair and repair fixes as the car downloads the contacts so the phone should be out of the recognition, but who knows.

Well unpairing and deleting the phone fro the car and re-pairing it seems to have worked. Very odd as to why since phone book downloads to car and was working fine a week ago.

Phones can be quite buggy sometimes.
