Driver 1 and/or Driver 2

Here's a problem I just encountered with my month-old TLX. My wife and I both have keyless remotes (she's driver 1, I'm driver 2). Today we were both carrying our remotes with us in the car, and it switched/defaulted to driver 2 (I was the last person to drive it). However, when I left the car, my wife turned off the engine, and then turned it on, thinking since the only remote left was driver 1 it would switch to her settings. But it didn't--it remained on driver 2. And the only thing that got it to recognize her as driver 1 was for her to leave the car for a minute, then get back in and restart.
Anyone else encountered this problem?

No but I once started my car with both keys in my pocket. It thought I was driver 2, i.e. not me and so all the settings for radio etc were wrong/non existant. Already driving to work...what to do... stopped car, put key two on sidealkbaway from car. Restarted with key one only, went back to get key 2 leaving car running.....maybe this wasn't necessary but all I could think of that would work...

Yes, much to my surprise, I discovered that ALL settings (not just seat position) change for whichever driver is using the car--audio, navigation, etc. This isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual.

It's mentioned in the separate infotainment system manual.

As for the original question, it goes by who unlocked the car. So if your wife locked the car and used her fob to unlock if, it'd go to her settings.

For fun, can you swap your remote with hers without her knowing it? If you can, you should get into the car and set the seat and mirrors (and whatever you don't mind changing back later) to some crazy positions before you plant your remote so when she gets in the car seems like it's possessed

I'm just twisted like that!

I believe the driver buttons on the driver's door would switch the driver settings as well.

The settings are recognized as the driver unlocks the vehicle with remote or by keyless entry via door handle after the vehicle has been locked.

This will reset the seats and mirrors but I don't believe it changes all the settings (audio, climate, etc.) to the other Driver.

You're absolutely right. I double checked the other day and the settings on the door only adjust the seat position.
