Back up camera quality

Mine appears to be pretty low quality, everything seems bent and warped and a hard judge of where things actually are. And night time is incredibly blurry compared to like my old 08 TL-S

Anyone else have thoughts ?

No major issues here... But I have noticed the picture has a lot of noise at night when it's very dark out. Daytime it's fine to me.

I assume you know there are three modes, standard, wide, and overhead, selected by pressing the large round OK button. But the basic quality is the same for all.

Yes... At least compared with my previous 4G the quality is not there... There's also a weird lag, like I'm watching a video in slow motion. I dunno how safe that can be, luckily this time I also have the sensors

The "lag" doesn't sound normal. I don't get any lag at all. Try another one if you can get to a dealer or have them look into it.

Anyone figure out how to change the different "view" on the camera? I go to camera settings but all there is, is line options. No selection on field of view type

No - sadly the "lanewatch" camera that is in the 9th gen Accords did not make it into the TLX. Shame too as it's a very useful tool.

My backup camera focus is fine but when it rains, the camera is pretty much useless. I need to put rainex on the camera lens.

I do like the top view and wish they had it on the front camera. Although the current front camera is next to the rearview mirror.

Front camera??? Are you talking about the camera used for LKAS? Can you access it somehow? Have you hacked into the dev section on the MID?

I use the night vision option on the front camera.

No, not yet. But I would like a camera over the front bumper to see if I am going to hit a higher than average curb.

I'm being completely serious here - I would like a usable front camera too - side cameras as well - when getting in and out of tight parking spots it would be great to actually *see* all around the car.

Sadly, many of the Nissan cars already have exactly what you are talking about.

That's very cool stuff - thanks for the link.

Might be a 6G thing for the TLX then.

I may wait for the Google Satellite view option - after Google launches a satellite into orbit and lets you subscribe to a service that shows your "birds eye view" at all times.

I thought the quality of the backup camera was worse than my 2010 TL. Could it be this camera being in color is the issue? It does seem grainy to me.

High tech camera fix!

I, too, noticed a significant difference in the clarity of the rear-view display (as compared to the previous generation Acuras I owned).

I just took a napkin, and cleaned the camera lens off by the trunk lid. The image improvement was immediate! It seems that the camera lens is much more dome-shaped (probably to accomodate the "top down" view)- and as such, the whole assembly is more "exposed" to the elements than previous Acura lens systems. So, dirt and road film accumulate more on it.

I know that I should be keeping my new car cleaner, but the weather here in NJ lately hasn't been cooperating for me to get the sponge and bucket out...

Same here - I was noticing blurriness and spots on the camera image...my car was a bit dirty so I checked the camera and noticed it was a little dirty as well...I wiped off the camera lens and it was MUCH better.
