Back up camera not focus

Anyone experience of this.
It appears the picture is blurry and not focus.
Are we able to adjust it?

Have you checked to see if the lens is dirty? Possible fingerprint smudge.

Yes. It is not dirty. Picture is so pixelated. Very poor quality and not consistent with the over over 45k vehicle

You have a faulty connection or camera.

Agreed. Quality sucks for a car in this price range. Especially at night.

Hate to break it to you but today's $40K is no top of the line lux vehicle. The quality of my car does not change between day and night. Oh you mean the camera, well get it fixed and then report back.

Where in my statement did I say this was a top of the line lux car? Re-read it please. I absolutely did not. But when a $20k Chevy or Ford has a better camera? As a matter of fact, the 2015 loaner RLX has the same shitty camera.

How often do you back-up and try to examine the quality of the camera? Dunno, I still use my own eyes to check everything. The camera is just there to double check, like glance at it.

OMG! The back up camera isn't 1080P!

So, a $20K car spends more on the camera than Honda, does than mean a 20K car is a better car? I prefer they put the quality in other places.

The back up camera on the TLX is quite adequate and does what it is supposed to do.. but damn, I can't read the print on a newspaper! *shrug*

Wow, you guys read a lot into what isn't even said. Did I say a $20k Ford or Chevy is a "better" car? Nope.

Is the camera adequate? Yes. Is it crappy? Yes.
Do I "need" better? No.
Do I expect better? Yes.
Do I like 100 other things on the vehicle? Of course.
Would the camera be a deal breaker? No.

I'd like to see some screenshots of his issue compared to others.

Not sure why I bother to respond to these posts, but here is the chain that prompted my comment, and my interpretation of the associated comment. My bad for assuming a link to a lux vehicle.

mecyl: Very poor quality and not consistent with the over over 45k vehicle.

LAMike240: Agreed. Quality sucks for a car in this price range.

Quandry: Hate to break it to you but today's $40K is no top of the line lux vehicle.

Any car that is not a top of the line lux will have cost saving measures somewhere, most likely with low use items. The backup camera with its is low res and minimal/poor color reproduction is one candidate.

If the TLX had a better camera, be supplied with a spare tire, have better AS tires, better leather interior it would not be in the same price category.

I'm a little scared to comment on the camera, but since I've never had a car with one, I'm quite pleased with mine. I agree that it's not HD, but the images are plenty clear enough for me, and I also have the sensors to assist in my endeavors.

If the OP is dissatisfied with the camera, and it is clearly a distorted image, then the dealer will need to look at it. It could be what others have mentioned (camera, connection, or even just dirty). Hopefully, it will get resolved to the satisfaction desired.

Totally agree with this statement Quandry. Ideally, those lower quality items should not be in places the customer will notice them. Such as places where they come into contact with the customers senses. Touch, feel, sight.

l'd like to get get this back on topic. OP, can you post a pic of what your image looks like?

Just to add my two cents to this lively discussion, I find the camera is excellent for daytime (certainly compared to my 32k Nissan Altima SL, which is also more than adequate). At night, the camera is adequate and certainly not class leading, but as Quandry has so eloquently stated, i find the price of my car, for all its other excellent luxury/sport features, trumps the few concerns of this nature.

BTW, I would say the Milano leather is NOT one of those items

Personally I have no issue with the camera on days or nights without rain. Once it rains the camera becomes useless. Wonder if I can built a rain-ex dome for it.

If you do build this, you should try to get a patent and start selling them.

I purchased a dashcam with front and rear full HD and I'm still trying to determine the best way to mount them. It would be cool to be able to view the rear cam on one of the displays (maybe even see it on the other display than what is already showing the reverse cam) and have 2 separate views at the same time. I don't think it's a possibility, but it would be pretty cool. If I can somehow figure out how to do it, I'll let everyone know.

Personally I still haven't learned to parallel park with this camera, I find it waaay too wide-angle and distorting distances as a result (in either of the two modes).
Also haven't figured out how to interpret the guide lines yet either.

As compared to my old Kia which had a camera that was nearly worthless at night but was super easy to park with otherwise.

Guess you also have this issue where green grass is brown grass in your monitor when backing up. Yes this is a known issue with Acura. They are still working on an update to resolve this issue. When????? Why I know, I have the same model and year and has been bugging me not to mention such an expensive car. No use bringing this to your dealership as they would not know as well. If this issue has been resolve by Acura to your TLX 2015, please let me know. Thanks

Back up cameras brightness

If the camera is not bright enough, you can adjust it by turning the BIG KNOB while the car is in reverse. It may help with some of the problems mentioned.

Camera quality is shitty. Its good in the morning but at night with very little light, forget about it. Its a bit better on my mdx but still shitty compared to my previous zdx... anyone know if it can be easily upgraded to an aftermarket brand?

What you also need to consider is the the three views type you can get looking down directly at the bumper, normal and wide angle! I wonder how many other companies do that? I imaging this complicates the lens using a fixed lens.

Agreed! The "look down" view is very convenient while parrallel parking. The city parking spots are very tight. I appreciate the camera angles to help prevent a bumper tap. Also, the rear cross traffic alert system works like a charm. This system help me out in at least 2 different occasions where i did not see another car pulling out from the side of me. The guidelines turning with the car estimating where the car will end up if the turn continues is a great feature as well. I back out next to a dumpster every morning, this helps me estimate how much space I have before I am in the danger zone.

All-in-All. I am pleased with my back up camera except the fact that green grass looks brown. But that is one
very small complaint compare to how many praises I give the backup camera.
