About time! At WWDC, Apple finally decided to allow 3rd party maps on CarPlay. This is really the only remaining gripe I have about the system. You won't ever have to look at the TLX's antiquated infotainment system again.
Hi all, is anyone else on iOS 12 beta having serious issues with CarPlay?
Since going from iOS 11.4.1 to 12 to try out Waze, my '18 TLX just cycles through the initializing and loading screens about five times before the entire head unit reboots itself taking both screens down for about a minute then the reload/reboot cycle starts again.
Yes I have the iOS public beta 2 and an iPhone X on a 2018 TLX A-Spec and am having the same issues as you and am not happy as I used CarPlay all the time. I have been in Apples beta program and never had issues with CarPlay and any of the IOS11 betas until ios12. I called Acura and they told me to factory reset all my settings and it did not help. I have submitted feedback and have been trying to find a solution to this issue. If you find one or come up with one or anyone knows of a fix or work around I would appreciate the help. Unfortunately I did not take a iTunes backup or else I would roll back. Not sure if this is going to be an Acura problem or Apple issue but why would they break something that worked?
Phew, thanks for the confirmation. Yeah, I know it's still an early beta, but I hope this gets fixed soon. I've reported it to Apple and will let Acura know when I can too.
I have a feeling that regardless of whose fault it is, the Acura CarPlay system should be sandboxed enough that it does not take down the entire infotainment system plus HVAC controls, cameras, etc when you plug in a phone.

I know it's not the same car, but my A4 is having a bear of a time with PB2
Folks are reporting iOS 12 beta 3 resolves CarPlay issues reported with many Hondas (and assuming Acura.)
My 2018 Acura TLX connects now on beta 3 however Google Play Music and Apple Music apps crash and lots of bugs navigating and trying to make selection of songs or get playlists to play. Get bounced out to the app icons and then u try to go back in a more bugs and getting things selected in the apps. Good news is mapping is working as well as texting and phone calls as well as Siri. Some progress but still not acceptable as I use the music apps heavily. Apple responded to bug report asking me if it had been fixed and I have informed them that NO still issues. Still broke. I managed to get my phone back to 11.4.1 and no issues whatsoever again. I am using Apple iPhone X for reference

With the release of iOS12 yesterday, Google has finally released Google Maps for Carplay! Functionality is what you'd expect from Google Maps with simple point A to B directions as well as satellite view.
Waze has not yet been update for Carplay but I'm sure it'll follow soon.
