TLX is CRAP

Wow, I'm so under impressed

Looks like a TL with a little ILX thrown in for styling points and motor and tranny choices are small to say the least.

Not sure when the next car will be in my future but I'm almost positive it is NOT going to be an Acura!!

I'll wait to see the interior, how it drives, and the tech, but I agree that the exterior does not impress. I own a TSX and a TL but Acura is pushing me away with their poor styling and lack of innovation.

I think it is a good looking car....design is very subjective...but I am sure this will appeal to a broad cross section of the buying public.

I think the back half of the car is its strong suite, the front looks pretty standard. I can't tell if this car has an exhaust, almost looks like they are trying to hide it. From the pictures it looks more sporty then the 4th gen. Im curious to see what a 9 speed drives like.

you couldn't post this in any of the other threads... Car looks good, curious what they did to the interior, and how much it weighs... i'll wait to see production version before my full stamp of approval, but it looks good.

like or dislike-that is your choice-maybe someone should put all these tlx threads into one instead of the numerous ones that are popping up. I am glad we have different brands of cars to choose from

I think it'll be borne out that Acura saved it's brand with this car. It looks great. Why couldn't the RLX look this good?

I know styling is subjective but it does nothing for me.
Typical Japanese bland design and why is Acura insisting with the beak? Get rid if it! Seriously!

But I guess I am in the minority since many seems to like the TLX.

Hey, Honda gave it their best shot......maybe a tad bit off, but at the end of the day my guess is that the TLX will appeal to enough folks to do well in sales. I'll reserve any final judgement until the first one hits my local dealership. Seeing the real car in the raw will tell the story, IMO. It's better than what I'd expected.

Looks are great from the side. The tail end seems to come together a little too tight. The front is improved, but could still do a better job with the grill. I like the less overhang in front and rear. Looks aren't everything. I'm very interested in seeing what the performance numbers are for the 4 and 6 cyl. engines with their new transmissions. A 9 speed? I think with the new SHAWD and 9spd., the numbers should be breaking the 5 second barrier.

You can say that again! ....We all have our detail differences on the design but you would have to be half crazy to say that car is ugly. It will be ugly right in my driveway.

I would pick it as my next car, just not enough info for me yet to make a real comment about it nor call it a crap.

Haters are gonna hate just because they have a lot of hate and can't help it. Not directed at OP although he did pick the most provocative title he could. I'm thinking of all the future comments we'll see about this car. Nothing can be done about that. But I think Acura redeemed its self. Is it perfect? No. Only Aston Martin is a perfect design imo.

The new TLX looks really good. People wont still like the beak but there is strong aggressive design accent in the front. This new one will sell much more than 4G for sure.

Great looking car, great technology in the drive train and power plants. Great interior technologies that are in the rlx like the ACC, LKAS, LDW, FCW, CMBS, BSI, etc. Defiantly a game changer for the segment it competes in.

Can't wait to sell these, drive em, and go through them. Lets hope they bring that red paint to production and let's see that twin turbo version come to us in form of a type-s

Like many, I watched the unveiling of the TLX and will reserve judgement until I can actually touch, see and drive the car. For now I will say that it does not appear to be visually stunning but visually pleasing. Perhaps this is what Acura had in mind given the controversy of the 4G.
Seems to me that it is more in line with other offerings on the market and given the reliability of Acura's people will definitely consider it.

Too bad for your logic that this 'bland design' was conceived, designed, engineered and built in USA.

Looks great to me, but you have to realize this is still a prototype, production sheet metal will be different and the wheels will definitely change.

Definitely anxious to see the interior as well, depending on where it is priced and packaged Acura could have a winner here. I am guessing the 6MT is dead but that's not for certain. I have mixed feelings, without a 6MT I will never buy the new TLX, but that also means 6MT 4Gs will be in higher demand.

I agree... I traded my 2010 manual for a 2014 because I thought they would be dead. Now there are only 2 manual AWD sedans left, the 335i xdrive and the S4.

Is the TLX crap? Not in my opinion. I think that it looks better than my 2012 GLM. Acura's might not be the best looking vehicles in their classes, but shiiiiiit......they damn sure are the best value.

Proud 2010 4G owner and I like the new prototype (Hence the word prototype). Haters gonna hate, they'll find a reason. Typically they're followers of what ever is trending. This design is different, the overall concept and direction different...if not we'd all be buy Chevy Impala's (God forbid). Will I purchase one, depends on a few factors, but so far from what I know about the car and Acura excelling in other areas that other brands lag IMO, I'd check into get one.

Different folks, different strokes. That said, this is as close to a home run as Honda/Acura could possibly hit the ball. It's aggressive, beautiful, sophisticated and a whole other positive styling attributes. And that's just in the looks department. They're gonna kill it with the tech, interior and other bells and whistles. This car will do very well in the mass market.

goosefraba OP goosefraba...

so much anger for posting within such a short time of a car debuting. I hope you didn't except anything crazy or radical - it's an Acura! They are not going to shoot themselves in the foot every time they launch a car. I guess damned if you do, damned if you don't eh? Too radical or not radical enough...

I personally think the car is a very nice evolution from the current TL. It brings it up to date while not being something totally out of left field. I like left field but sometimes you don't fix things that aren't broke.

I am definitely excited to see more of this car and to possibly have one when my lease is up. I definitely want to go back to Honda/Acura or BMW and this might be a perfect solution.

Let's just hope for nice tech goodies! I love me some tech goodies!

just human nature for people with previous gen to hate and not wanting shinnier and better to come out. usually the weak minded are like this. leave all bias out of the equation the new tlx will be a much superior car to the 4g in all aspects. and dont get me wrong. im a huge fan of the 4g and i own a 3g. the 4g is faster and more refined i would gladly trade my 3g for a 4g.

You guys have it all wrong. You don't think we WANT a viable Honda replacement for the 3G?? The 3rd gen has become ridiculously outdated lately, and is slower than almost anything in it's class. I'm DESPERATE for a replacement, but based on looks and feel alone, I cannot stand behind Acura anymore with anything in the current lineup. As someone who does every form of maintenance work myself, I value a car that feels as dependable and solidly built as possible, down to every panel and component. Sitting behind the wheel of the newer models for weeks at a time has done nothing for me but lead me away from Acura as a brand, sheer dissappointment. There was no greater feeling then getting into a 3rd Gen TL when they came out. I relate this to the 04 gen Accords, which felt so much more solid to the touch and engaging enough for the driver at the wheel...I do not get that impression in the slightest stepping into any current Honda or Acura of any class

My first Acura was a 3G, and I loved it. I have a 4G SH-AWD with 6MT, and while I still don't care for the styling of the car, driving it is still a blast. I have fond memories of the 3G, but sitting behind the wheel, it is no contest - the 4G is better.

My first impression of the new TLX is favorable, styling-wise. I'd miss the MT, but if the interior is as well designed as the past Acuras, I may very well take the plunge and trade in the 4G early.
