Radar systems offline due to snow

Cleaned the snow off my car this morning, but didn't clean the grill area. After driving for a little bit, my dash lit up with warnings that the radar was obstructed, and the cmbs system, and cc systems were offline.

1/2 -3/4 inch of snow, topped with a thin layer of ice from driving was enough to block it, so unless you don't mind looking at warning lights, or don't mind taking out those systems, if you have to deal with the white stuff, make sure to clean off the grill area also.

Same on the RLX Advance. I've had to deal with that a couple times this winter. I always clean off the grille now.

This is why we were told not to paint our shields black? It must be a bit disconcerting then snow causes the system to give those warnings.

Sigh. I miss the days when power windows and a sunroof were considered "optioned out"...

When you think about it, it makes sense, but I understand the annoyance/frustration.

If I recall, this is why they told us that painting the shield could cause problems too

And mud. I think there is a blurb in the manual on this.

I completely agree. I find the modern electronics and nanny systems to be way more trouble than they are worth. I actually pay attention when I drive (a novel concept these days, I know) so I don't find them to be necessary for me at all.

We've had plenty :-( of snow here in N.Y. this season, but this was the first time I got the warning. it's also been covered in mud / grime for a majority of the last few months.

The difference this time was that the snow was 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. That actually didn't trigger the warning, but after 20 minutes or so of driving, the whole front end was getting covered in another 1/4 inch of gritty, dirty ice from the spray being kicked up by the cars in front. The additional ice coating is what set off the warnings.

Ha - back in my day if you drove around with your windows up on a hot day it meant you had money. Today even the poor can afford air conditioning

The sensors On the front and back bumpers also have to be clean and free from the snow, ice and grime as well!

Yeah but the problem is they are generally not very nice cars and/or not very fun to drive.
