Question Broken sun visor -

The driver’s side sun visor on my wife’s ‘15 TLX Tech “popped” the other day and now it hangs down just far enough to be annoying. Don’t want to take the car to the dealer, as their parts counter price is about $122 (~27% over list!), while online dealers are ~$68 so figured I’d do it myself.

Then I looked closely: how do you get the bleepin’ thing off? I used to negotiate for factory shop manuals for all my new cars, but didn’t do it with this one. Acura/Honda used to use screws until at least 2001, but sometime between then and ‘15 they switched to some sort of funky, probably very simple, latch mechanism that I haven’t been able to figure out (my ‘20 RDX Advance has the same design).

I’d prefer not to break it, and have been unable to find the removal procedure online. I found one post from October ‘16, but the link to the procedure didn’t work.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can share the procedure to remove this without damaging it!

if nothing is catching your eye in terms of removal...perhaps it's hidden in the ceiling? which means it would need to be dropped down for you to find the mechanism.
perhaps you could take a picture and we can figure it out together

No - there is what appears to be a latch on the side of the mount facing the windshield (the only way to see it is to take a picture since you can’t get your head in there too see it directly - at least I can’t).

I have attached a photo that shows it pretty well. There is a rectangular port on the mount with a tab that looks like it should be able to be slid to the right by prying with a small screwdriver, except it doesn’t want to move and I didn’t want to break it!
