Anyone waiting for the 2016 Acura TLX?

No Type S or A spec, No Acura for me. F sport here I come. I buy Acura for the reason that it is about 15%, but they need to spice it up a bit as the car is a little bland. They also need more supportive seats that don't end half way down your leg, give them thing support for heavens sake. People do want to drive this car that are taller than 5'

Just saying as I am 6'2" and the seat bottom only comes about 60% down my thigh, where as my Audi S4 with adjustable thigh support comes all the way to my knee if I want it to providing for a much more supprotive, comfortable ride. It is especially great when you are in the seat for extended periods or driving aggressively.
The Japanese cars, with the exception of the Lexus F sports, all seem to design the seats for short small people. My Acura TSX has pretty good seats, much better and more supportive than the new TLX. If the new TLX had the 2nd Gen TSX seats in it, I would already own one. However I will never purchase one unless they make a Type S or A spec version with more accommodating seats.
and yes, "that must be it" as if your legs are supported by that short seat bottom, they are short legs

Take a tape measure and measure the seat bottom of a TLX. 4G owners though the seat bottoms of the TLX were smaller but that isn't the case.
Anyway.. it doesn't matter since you won't be buying one any time soon.

I think generally 1st year cars do have more issues than later iterations. However, I had an 04 TL that I had for about 130,000 miles and never had any issues with it outside of a bad axle.
I'm a pretty tall guy as well (6'3") and didn't think the TLX seats were cramped but I did notice a significant difference in padding and support compared to the 3G and 4G TL's. Besides the trans that is one of the things I really didnt like about the TLX. But then again I was looking for more of a bolstered sporty ride than luxury cruiser.

Know what? Up until yesterday I thought 3G owners who said the 3G was better looking than the TLX were just being biased. But after seeing it for the first time up close at the dealership, I have to agree with you. I'm sure the TLX drives nicely and has updated technology but they do NOT look better than the 3G at all.

Also, I don't get these concerns with the 9 speed tranny on the V6.
I picked my new TLX V6 up on Friday night and think the tranny is the best Acura has ever had, absolutely no issues that I can detect.
I drove the 2.4 and the V6 back to back and they seemed identical, the tranny is one of the big bright spots in my opinion.
Don't think Acura is going to offer anything different in 2016, if they do it's going to be minor...

That you just picked up your car is likely the reason. I got my AWD in January and had frustrations with the shifting, but just recently had the latest software update done and now it is performing nearly flawlessly. I'll bet that your car already has this update applied. Some others have had the update done but still have shifting issues, but I'm inclined to believe that this may be due to the update either not taking or the full service instructions not being followed by the dealership (which includes some specific driving procedures immediately after update to calibrate). Enjoy your TLX - it is an awesome vehicle! ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Most of the complaints about the 9 speed were attributable to things that could be controlled, like the firmware change. However, there were some failures in early 9 speed P-AWS cars that Honda traced directly to ZF, and they weren't very happy about it.

The biggest "hardware" change was better quality control at ZF.

And I thought I read somewhere that Honda is assembling the ZF trannies themselves....is that not the case?

Definitely to each and their own. Our TLX is nice and cushy with all of the bells and whistles but, overall driving experience, my TL-S 6MT is still the better car to drive. Not sure what it is but I feel like the 9AT tranny plays a big part in why I dislike the TLX. The RDX was even more enjoyable to drive and I'm leaning towards the fact that it didn't have the 9AT as to why that is.

Understood, I'm really starting to appreciate the TLX more every time I get behind the wheel, really starting to grow on me.
I have a 2014 RDX myself and really like driving that as well, can see why you liked it...

Nissan made a mistake recently by giving a TLX and a Maxima both to somebody who was supposed to be reviewing the Maxima. The problem is that he ended up liking the TLX more than the Maxima.
He liked the Maxima interior design for personal reasons related to concepts of aesthetics.
But performance, drivability, handling...and the one he'd buy for himself...ended up being the TLX V-6 P-AWS car over the Maxima.
My problems [sic] with the TLX are also personal ones. I already have had two RLX, so I see the TLX as a little downscale.
I also previously owned a 4G TL 6-6 SH-AWD, and I do not see that any version of the TLX is the logical successor to that car.
But there's no arguing with sales figures, and the TLX is clearly a success.
