Heads up Display

So disappointed that TLX even with Mcdaddy Advance package doesnt offer heads up display. BMW, Audi in that same price range comes with HUD. Do you guys think Acura may offer that in 2016?

Acura only offers Heads Up Display in RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AW. One would think the feature is not that expensive and Acura should have included it with the TLX advance package. I remember in the TLX owner's online survey, Acura asked about features I would like to have on the TLX (but it does not). I surely checked HUD, along with powered trunk lid and heated steer wheel.

Apple and Oranges... The cheapest you can configure a 328 with a HUD is around $42K. But that does not include leather, moonroof, Xenons, etc. By the time you configure the 328 with similar features to the Advance package it is around $50K.

I do wish the car had a HUD. My wife's Mini has a HUD and it is really handy, especially with the navigation system. One day I think it will have a HUD like the RLX but maybe not until the MMC. It is a $500 option on the Mini.

To be honest, the display in front of you on the dash is pretty effective and in the line of sight. Perhaps less distracting in some ways….but yes, a true HUD would be nice. You can't have a great car with many features and have absolutely everything for 5 -8 K less.

I've owned several cars with it. It's one of those features that you don't know how much you are going to like it until you have had it for a while. It is a big deal to me.

I agree. I had a new 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SSE Company car that had Head Up display. I have always missed this feature since moving to Acura. The new 2015 Hyundai Genesis has an excellent Head Up system with their Ultimate package option.

I have to say that HUD is the only feature I miss from the GS350.

IMO, Acura should have it as an option for all model and possibly standard on the Advanced.

I wonder how much it would cost per car to add it?

I ordered the Navdy unit months ago... not sure if it will look cheap/cheesy or not.

I was looking at the Navdy site and I was thinking it was a potentially cool unit. Have you had any update as to when they think the items will start shipping?

I am not sure that Navdy will ever come to fruition but the latest ship date is Sept. 15

Having the Nav info displayed is worth the price of admission.

I tried using an Android App for HUD. It works great but my phone slides across the dash when I turn the car.

This Navdy thing looks pretty cool. I am not sure if I want a box sitting in front of me. I will definitely watch how this device comes to life.

With a good HUD system you don't see anything but the info floating in front of you. No sense of there being in a "frame" around them & the projection system itself is not in your view.

At night the characters change from white to a night vision orange/red so as not to kill your night eyesight.

Great thread, I've thought through the years there's no excuse for why every car being produced shouldn't have a HUD. There's no way it costs that much, my 2000 Grand Prix GTP had it and I paid 24K for that car brand spankin' new. Corvettes have it and several caddy's I think. Its truly technology that you didn't know you needed until you try it

I'd like to have HUD also.
I'm disappointed that at least a digital speedometer on MID should have been an option as it is on Audi and other brands like even Chrysler..

I have been advocating the Civic should have one for some time - it has at the moment its two tier design giving a high level speed readout. I note that the next gen civic has ditched the two tier design and that spy pictures show a towel draped across the top of the dash. Which makes me think it might be hiding HUD equipment. AS others say - the cost is pretty small these days, and rival Mazda 3 already has a (half baked) HUD. I feel though that it will mainly be the domain of sports cars and younger demographic compacts than lux barges.

I'm one of those guys who can take or leave HUD. I've had cars with HUD and it became a distraction after the novelty wore off in the first few weeks.

I'd rather save the money. If Acura included it, price would rise. No thatnks. Not important to me.

Its possible, but who knows.

I do like the way the brake warning light flashes on the windshield for Advance models, so they are acknowledging the idea, but not sure if they are close to rolling it out across any models yet.

Unlike other makes, Acura will make it standard with 1 of the 2 package options, so it needs to be worth it for them to do so, and I don't think it is at this point. People talk about the braking systems, lane keeping, smart cruise, etc, but I don't think the HUDs are options that people specifically request, or seek out, but may be very happy to get if bundled with something else.
