Accord 18 pics released...TLX killer?
#321
What's the point in just discussing the TLX, to make you think you did an excellent purchase?
#322
Well, it's certainly a more legitimate place to do that than trying to feel good about buying an Accord, don't you think? LOL There's a reason why this site is called Acura Enthusiast Community. Of course, posters can talk about the pros and cons of different makes and models, but if someone is so convinced that Accord is not only cheaper but also better in all ways and any way (it sounds like quite a few are), then all they can do on here is to bash the TLX. How is that helpful? I think it'd be better off to everyone if they just moved on to the Accord enthusiast community, IMHO.

also, the internet is a place to discuss ALL things. thats why I was crediting Bear, as he understands the internet. He knows how to play both sides of the coin, without getting too entrenched in opinions.

I thought only rich people had acura and they were made in Japan
and poor people drive accords from the honda Mexican plant
no self respecting TLx owner on this forum would ever publicly admit they would cross shop a poor persons car like an accord

Spoiler alert (for those who haven't been paying attention):
it was a joke
should have used red font
i know where both are made

I agree that the exterior design of the 18 Accord is not my favorite.....but I would take it over a 4G Acura front end. A test drive of a 2.0T MT Accord is planned for November to see what all of the fuss is about.

Oh boy. Another thread where the "moderators" refuse to fall in line and be the brand ambassadors that they're paid to be.
Sad.
Sad.

And also, the title of the thread is "Accord 18 pics released...TLX killer?".
Grammatically, that means it is a thread of which the topic is if the TLX (an Acura vehicle) is or is not outdone by another vehicle. Seems entirely appropriate for this site. I do find it interesting that the overwhelming majority of Acura enthusiast members here have made their own conclusion that the Acura isn't the superior product.
I do not think, however, that should be an automatic discrediter for participation. That would be silly.

Styling aside, the 2018 Accord seems to be the superior product because Honda has spent real effort into making the new Accord really nice. When most people thought Honda would have a tough time catching up the Camry, Honda came out with this stunning Accord.
The next gen TLX now has a very good base to build upon. I'm looking forward to see how Acura will bring the precision concept styling and the precision cockpits together with the new Accord, improve upon it, and come out with the next gen TLX.

While I do like the Aspec styling of the TLX, that's all I like about it. Now if it had the Accord 6mt and 2.0T I would trade my car in for that. But there is nothing that makes me go wow about the TLX. I am going to trade my RLX for a 2.0T 6MT Accord, even if it's not so eye appealing.

I must admit, looks wise, I really like the new Camry. I also like that it pushes 306hp. But that's all about I like about that car.

I thought the same thing. At least from the accord pics i saw it seems to have not a beak but the shield on the front end that thankfully acura got past. The prior model accord IMO was way nicer styling wise. Regardless the accord buyer and acura buyer at least on the higher end models are not the same in general. While the accord is a good car its super common and if I didn't go for an acura I would look at lexus, infinity or a german car before bothering with the accord or camry. If price is the only concern and nothing else then honda will always win over acura cars.

The new Accord is up on the Honda Canada website starting at $26,490 for an LX and topping out at $38,790 for a Touring 2.0. The manual Sport 2.0 is $32,790 but its awfully basic compared to the Touring.

That doesn't mean much. It's all down to the stock tires which suck balls anyway. Throw on a pair of RE-11s or RE-71Rs and revisit that skid pad. Overall, the Accord has ALWAYS had a sportier suspension as compared to the Camry. The Camry is body roll galore. Driving a Camry is one of the most anemic driving experiences you can have. At least that's what they've always had. I will admit, I have not driven a 2018 Camry yet, but I have a strong feeling Toyota didn't meander far from their Camry status quo. You could never say that about the Accord, which has always been a much more "sporty" feeling setup. It is lighter than it's previous generation Accord and that's never a bad thing. Has it become a handling monster? No. But it's still a noticeable amount of less weight being pushed through a corner.
I must admit, looks wise, I really like the new Camry. I also like that it pushes 306hp. But that's all about I like about that car.

Whether both TLX and Accord belong to Honda Corp is beside the point. This is an Acura user group, not a Honda product one. It should be a resource for acura owners and potential buyers, and NOT a place to bash Acura. Does "constructive feedback" ring a bell? Every car has its pros and cons and many in its product life cycle has its ups and downs. The type of criticisms on threads like this, which is the exact opposite of constructive feedback shouldn't be on the Acura Enthusiast Community. Otherwise the new owners and prospective buyers will be driven away and all that's left are individuals whose mission is anything but supporting Acura products. Is that where this site should head to? Something for the mods to ponder. And I will shut up from here on.

Acura thought the MMC changes were enough to pull people back into the brand. People did notice the bad feedback from previous TLX model years and decided to stay away since changes weren't enough. I really doubt Acurazine is responsible for bad sales, people do their own homework. It didn't stop members here from getting their TLX, they were just more informed about it's issues and made better deals to compensate.
Related to the Accord, it competes directly with base versions of the TLX. You bet Acura is worried, consumers are less likely to be affected with premium brands vs Honda compared to full luxury.

Based on the comments and what I've seen so far, it seems like Acura is selling slightly fewer TLXs but at a higher price point (i.e. incentives not as much as before).

The thing is based on the average of 2500 sales per month, I really wonder how many of those are still 2016/2017s being sold as new. Curious as what sales will be next year once old models are pretty much gone AND Accord is factored in.

the mods arent hurting sales, when MAJOR publications are trashing Acura products as well. Honda/Acura did this to themselves.
new article at The Truth About Cars - The Truth About Cars is dedicated to providing candid, unbiased automobile reviews and the latest in auto industry news. titled
" The 2018 Acura ILX Special Edition is, UH, UM...Just what The Acura ILX Needed? "

Reviews have pretty well spoken. I trust reviews more than tlx owners
i have owned a 91 coupe (90-93 was best generation)
i have owned a 96 wagon
after the 94-97 gen, the 2013-2017 was the best
2018 is really the best Accord since the 90-93 model

one of
the reasons I feel it is the best sedan now is that accord hasn’t been offered in a big engine MT in a 4 door since the unicorn v6/MT 4 door almost 10 years ago
the 2.0T 6MT excites me as it reminds me of my wife’s 2016 wrx limited without the crap build quality
to me 6MT is important
most powerful engine in the lineup is important
marrying them both in a practical package is important
i don’t particularly Care about the 1.5L accord and I haven’t mentioned thatv
if one doesn’t like the 2018 Accord go buy a tlx a spec
i heard they will be lower than 40k in a few months
choices is a good thing for a consumer
unilateral fanboism and blind lust for a tlx with a old platform serves nobody
not all of us are luddites

I said I was gonna "shut up", but I have to clarify - who ever said the mods were driving the TLX sales down?? I said the real Acura enthusiasts would be/had been driven away *from this forum*, supposedly an online community for them. That's why I went on to ask if that's the direction the mods wanted to take this site to. Again, those who are the champion of Accord at TLX's expense, there's a "life" and may be a greater one outside the Acura Enthusiast Community. It's time to stop hijacking a forum for a car you have nothing but disgust. Once more, what's the point?

GTLM is the one to win if you are going to dump money into racing as its the most competitive with cars most like the ones you can buy. Infact the Corvette in GTLM has a smaller engine with less power than its street performance versions. Been a tough year for HONDA in the US as Chevy won the Manufactures Championship in the Indy Car series. Indy only has two engine suppliers Chevy & HONDA.
