I'd seriously consider a 2.0T/6MT Accord, but it won't fit comfortably into our small garage. I'd have only a few inches of clearance for length, and very little clearance for the parking spot in our urban "driveway." My old Saab 9-5 Aero was pushing it for length, and the Accord is four inches longer.

So I'm hoping the next ILX gets the 2.0T, Sensing, and a tolerable transmission. I want 6MT, but I think the best I can hope for is the 8DCT. Or maybe the Civic Si will get Sensing. That could work too.

Er....I’ve never seen a commercial for the TLX. I don’t even watch TV. And I also haven’t said a thing in defense of the TLX. It’s not a fast car, so I’m unclear as to why you think I’ve been duped in some way. Seriously, who buys TLXs, A4s, and Accords, etc. to go fast? These are basic transportation tools, some more basic than others. I have a slight affinity toward Acura because of two NSXes I owned when I was in my 20’s, but that’s it.

All I’ve said is it makes no sense to be so dead certain that the Accord is amazing until you’ve driven it for yourself. An owner’s opinion would be even better. I mean, I’ve made the mistake of buying a 355 Spider many years ago because all the magazines said it was better than the 911 and the NSX. Actually, it’s not.

As mentioned, the two cars are very similar. But one is significantly cheaper. And newer. And has more tech. And is bigger. And gets better fuel economy. And is lighter, And is...

You can can think and say what you'd like... but you don't have much of an argument in any case. Still, the TLX sucks. Will continue to suck. And by golly, won't stop sucking for a few more years. Care to prove us wrong? I'll be sitting here all week, waiting

Also, welcome to the internet. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Oh snap. I didn’t realize that sales figures determine whether a car is good or not. They sell way more Timex watches than Blancpains too.

Now that the new Accord is available to the public I think this one may be done.

Clearly this discussion degenerated to a pissing contest between TLX apologists and those who lament the TLX for not being the second coming of the BMW 3 series.

I honestly wouldn’t be inclined to compare the outgoing 1G TLX vs the incoming 10G Accord, particularly as the pressure is moreso on Acura to ensure that the 2G TLX effectively differentiates itself from the 10G Accord. (I don’t recall such a heated discussion in comparison of the 13 TL vs 13 Accord V6. But I’d have to search the 4G forum to confirm that.)

That said (and with all due respect for scorned early TLX adopters), the TLX is not the segment benchmark and has its share of shortcomings but it is a solid offering in the segment. .....and as a former 9G Accord owner, I can definitely appreciate TLX characteristics that transcend that of the 9G Accord.
